February 6, 2010 | 10-17775 - Illegal production and selling liquor - the Halifax Vice Unit along with the Liquor Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant on a residence in the 100 block of Windmill Road in Dartmouth. Located in the residence was a still, beer and wine. All items were seized. A 63-year-old male was arrested under the Customs and Excise Act as well as the Liquor Control Act. He was released to appear in court at a later date. |

January 17, 2010 | 10-8876 - Robbery - At approximately 9:30 p.m., a 23-year-old female, waiting for a bus in the area of Windmill and Albro Lake Roads in Dartmouth, had her purse grabbed by a male with a handgun. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim was not injured during the incident. The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 17-23-years-old, 5'9" tall, skinny build, blonde hair with scruffy facial hair and gap between his front teeth. He was wearing a black hoodie, a black knit toque, dark coloured jeans and bright white Nike sneakers. The matter remains under investigation. | |

January 5, 2010 | 10-2762 - Pursuit - At 8:25 p.m., police began a low speed pursuit of a vehicle in the area of Wyse Road in Dartmouth. The vehicle initially refused to stop but eventually pulled into a parking lot in the area of of Windmill Road and Jamieson Street. A search of the vehicle produced drugs and bear spray. A man was charged under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act and a woman was charged with possession of a weapon. |

November 22, 2009 | 09-172601 - Stolen Vehicle and Motor Vehicle Accident - At 4:35 a.m., Two vehicles were observed racing on Windmill Road. Upon checking the area, police located a stolen Chrysler Sebring with extensive damage, after it had crashed into a bus shelter, two light standards and four vehicles at the Fairley and Stevens car dealership. The driver could not be located by K9. Ground search and rescue was called out to assist, as there were concerns that the driver could be seriously injured. The search was concluded at 4:30 p.m., no one was located. |

The female driver was issued a summary offence ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. August 24, 2009 | 09-125114 - Robbery - At 2:40 p.m. 3-4 males forced entry into an apartment located in the 100 block of Windmill Road, Dartmouth. Once inside, one of the males produced a handgun and put a bag over the head of the lone occupant. The other males searched the apartment and removed some jewelry. It is not known at this time if anything else is missing. The suspects left the scene in a silver coloured vehicle. Officers are still on scene conducting the preliminary investigation. This does not appear to be a random act. |

June 4, 2009 | 09-80021 - Impaired Driver - At 1:38 p.m. police received a call from a citizen regarding a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Windmill Road in Burnside. With this information, police were able to stop the vehicle in the area of Main Street. The driver was found to be highly intoxicated and failed a Breathalyzer test. As a result, he was held in custody until sober and will appear in court on a later date. | |

The victim refused and was pushed to the ground. The suspects ran across Windmill Road and fled in a small 2 door black car in an unknown direction. Nothing was taken from the victim. One suspect is described as a white male, 6' tall with very short, shaved blond hair. The second suspect is described as a black male, 14-16 yearrs old with a skinny build, wearing long black shorts with white and yellow stripes and a matching short sleeve top with the same colours. May 9, 2009 | 09-65693 - Cruelty to Animals - At 3:10 p.m. a man and his wife were walking their dog on leash on a trail from Princess Margaret Boulevard towards the train tracks near Windmill Road in Dartmouth. A second dog, which was off leash, approached their dog and jumped on him. The man attempted to control the second dog to prevent it from hurting their dog. The owner of the second dog appeared holding a knife and stabbed the couple's dog multiple times. The man then threatened the couple. The suspect left the area with his dog and the couple called police. The suspect was located nearby by responding members of the East Division Quick Response Unit and arrested at 3:21 p.m. Following investigation, a 56-year-old Dartmouth man was release to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date, charged with Cruelty to Animal, Possession of a Weapon and Uttering Threats. |

The speeds were not overly excessive and the suspect was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded handgun. The suspect will appear in court tomorrow morning. |

On arrival members found a male victim who appeared to have been assaulted. The victim was taken to the Dartmouth General Hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. Three male suspects were taken into custody for questioning. The matter remains under investigation by our General Investigation Section at the time of this report. |

January 7, 2009 | 09-2942/3737/2838 - Break and Enter - At 10:00 pm patrol officers observed a stolen mini van travelling in Highfield Park, Dartmouth. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop for the officers. Two men bailed from the vehicle when it finally came to a stop behind an apartment building. Quick action by officers on scene led to one suspect being apprehended a short distance from the van and the other located in a nearby wooded area by K-9 unit. The van was searched and a large amount of beer was recovered. Further investigation revealed that Sleeman’s Brewery, 612 Windmill Rd had just been broken into and beer stolen. December 11, 2008 | 08-183798- Power Outage - At approximately 3:30 p.m. the wind uprooted an old tree, causing it to fall onto power and telephone lines in the area of Grove Street and Windmill Road in Dartmouth. Power was knocked out in this area down to the MacDonald bridge. No one was injured during the incident. Nova Scotia Power is presently on scene. |

November 21, 2008 | 08-173030/173040 -Robberies - At 2 a.m. man walking along Windmill Road in Dartmouth was approached by two males, one of whom who produced a long gun and demanded the victim's property. The victim complied and the two suspects left without injuring the victim. Approximately 15 minutes later, the two males entered Robert's Pizza, 364 Windmill Road, each producing long guns and demanded cash from two patrons who were in the restaurant. After obtaining cash and other items from the two victims, the suspects then approached the employee and demanded that he empty the till. The employee initially refused, at which time one of the suspects fired a round next to the employee. The employee turned over the cash after which the suspects fled the scene on foot. There were no injuries as a result of the incidents. A quick response from Patrol members led to the arrest of three individuals at a Springhill Road address. The General Investigative Section attended and executed a search warrant resulting in the recovery of the victim's property and the two long guns which were used in the robberies. The investigation further revealed that the robbery was planned by the two suspects and a third male suspect who did not attend the scene but did plan the robbery and was in possession of the firearms at the residence. All three are being held for court on Monday morning to face a number of robbery and weapons related charges. |

October 6, 2008 | 08-148987 - Weapons Offence - At 12:25 a.m. police were called to the area of Best Street and Windmill Road in relation to a weapons offence. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male suspect approached a vehicle parked at the intersection, produced a handgun and pointed it at the 51-year-old driver of the vehicle. The driver fled the scene and a police K9 unit was called in. Excellent work by patrol and the K9 officer led to the arrest of the suspect in Best Street apartment. A search recovered a pellet pistol replica near the residence. A 17-year-old youth is facing charges of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous. He is being held for Court in the morning. |

June 8, 2008 | 08-82501/82537/82666 - Drugs - At 3:10 p.m. police responded an alarm at U Store It storage facility, 534 Windmill Road, Dartmouth. Upon arrival officers noted an occupied vehicle inside the locked compound. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a small amount of marihuana, a quantity of crack cocaine, cash, other drug paraphernalia and a loaded handgun. A search warrant was executed for the storage cubicle and resulted in the seizure of a prohibited firearm, a large quantity of crack cocaine, a small amount of marihuana, assorted drug paraphernalia and a large amount of Canadian currency. The three male occupants of the vehicle, ages 18, 23 and 26-years-old were arrested and face assorted firearms and drug charges. |

April 22, 2008 | 08-58068 - Homicide - At 12:32 a.m. police received a call regarding a body in an apartment in the 200 block of Windmill Road, Dartmouth. Member arriving on scene found a man deceased and a second man, 50-years-old, who had been stabbed. The second man was transported to the hospital for treatment. Soon after members arrived, a 45-year-old man was taken into custody a short distance from the scene. The matter remains under investigation. Traffic Point - Between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. the HRM Integrated Traffic Unit conducted a traffic point in Eastern Passage and stopped over 2500 vehicles. Eight vehicles were taken off the road for closer inspection. All eight failed and 6 were towed at the owners expense. Tickets were issued for several violations. |

The occupants of the apartment fled through the front door and called police. The apartment was searched by the suspects but it is not clear if anything was taken. January 10, 2008 | 08-5068 - Four Charged After Police Pursuit - At 4:40 a.m. Patrol Units in Dartmouth observed a Red Dodge Caravan which was believed to have been involved in a commerical Break and Enter at a convenience store on Windmill Road at 2:30 a.m. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, however, the driver failed to negotiate a turn and struck the curb. As a result, the vehicle, which was stolen, flipped over on its roofed. Four youths, none of who was injured, exited the vehicle and were taken into custody. They face numberous charges including theft, possession of stolen property and break and enter. |

October 28, 2007 | 07-163501 - Break and Enter - At 7:45 a.m., a call was received from a Trinity Avenue (Dartmouth) resident who had just observed two men break into a neighbour's shed. The suspects had walked from the area, one carrying a kitbag. Minutes later on Albro Lake Road at Windmill Road, responding East Division patrol members detained two suspects, recovering a quantity of power tools. October 8, 2007 | 07-153402 - Injury Accident - At 2:29 p.m., a car ran into a wheelchair near Windmill Road and Elmwood Drive in Dartmouth. The wheel chair occupant crossed the street and was driving along the road in search of an entry ramp to the sidewalk. The driver of a car backing out of a driveway struck the wheel chair, knocking the victim out of the chair and onto the pavement. The 64-year-old victim was treated at the scene for minor scrapes to his hands. No charges will be laid. |

September 22, 2007 | 07-143858 - Assault - At 6:38 a.m., a 39-year-old women waiting for a bus was approached by a man in the area of Wallace Street and Windmill Road in Dartmouth. The suspect grabbed the victim from behind and indicated he had a knife. The victim alerted some people in the area, causing the suspect to release her and flee. The suspect is described as a black male, 55-60-years-old, 5'7" tall, gray hair with a receding hair line, flat nose & flat face, wearing a white t-shirt with an unknown logo on it, white shorts, black socks and black sneakers. The suspect had a "pot belly” and walked with a hunch. The victim was not injured during the incident. | |

September 5, 2007 | 07-133824 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 9:00 a.m., police responded to a two vehicle and pedestrian accident. A 54-year-old man was crossing the marked crosswalk on Windmill Road at Hare Lane in Dartmouth. The driver of the first vehicle, a 55-year-old man, stopped to allow the pedestrian to cross and the driver of the second vehicle, a 24-year-old man, struck the rear of first vehicle, pushing it into the pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to hospital, treated for minor injuries and released. December 25, 2006 | 06-174503 Break and Enter For the second time in as many nights and the third time in a week, Hertz Rentals located at 590 Windmill Road in Dartmouth has been the victim of a break and enter. At 9:28 p.m. a vehicle was used to break open the front entry doors of the business, which is similar to last evening's break and enter. This time, however, the store managers had installed concrete barriers in front of the doorway; unfortunately, the suspects were able to use their vehicle to move the barriers to gain access. They stole several saws from the business. This matter remains under investigation. |

December 25, 2006 | 06-174207 Break and Enter At 8:04 p.m. officers attending an intrusion alarm at Hertz Equipment Rentals located at 590 Windmill Road in Dartmouth found an extensive amount of damage to the front doors of the building. Premilinary information from the investigation indicates that a vehicle drove through the front doors of the business to gain access to the building. Once an opening had been created by the collision, the responsible persons entered and stole two generators. The only description of the vehicle is that it could be grey in color as a piece of it was left behind at the scene. The suspect is described as a white male with facial hair and wearing race wearing a blue coat, black gloves and blue jeans. It appears as though he handed the stolen items to a second suspect, although no description of this party is available. |

November 15, 2006 | 06-155778 Drug Arrest and Charges A Vehicle was stopped by an HRP Patrol member on Wyse Road at 5:30 p.m. As a result of the traffic stop, a quantity of ectacy pills and cocaine were seized from the vehicle and the lone male occupant was arrested. As a result of further investigation, a search was conducted by the Integrated Drug Unit at a 100 block Windmill Road address later in the evening. Nobody was inside the home when the members entered at approximately 9 p.m. Quantities of marijuana, ecstacy pills, cocaine and cash were seized during the search. They produced a syringe and a knife and forced him to go to a Primrose Street address where they stole cash and identification. they then forced him to go to the bank machine to withdraw money from his account. Eventually the landlord was able to escape the apartment and contact police. The 45-year-old tenant was arrested and will appear , court today to answer to several charges. |

November 24, 2004 | 54035 Two males were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries after the car they were driving , rolled over on Akerley Blvd at Isnor Drive at 7:00 a.m. Road conditions , the area at the time were slippery. A protest against homelessness occurred this afternoon. Around 40 people started a demonstration on Queen Street near the area of the old Infirmary hospital. The participants then boarded a bus and were transported to an abandoned building at the corner of Wyse Road and Windmill Road where they met some other members of the demonstration that had gained entry to a vacant building. This building is owned by HRM and is not a habitable property. HRP then entered the building and removed the participants. Nine people were arrested. All nine are being charged with violating the Protection of Property Act. Further, one adult female and one male youth will be charged with obstructing a Police Officer. | |

A car that was travelling southbound over Magazine Hill lost control while trying to make lane changes and ran into the back of a second vehicle that was also travelling south. The second vehicle was pushed off the road and into the woods from the force of the collision. Fortunately no injuries resulted. Traffic was tied up , both directions as officers collected evidence and data to determine the cause of the collision. Charges are expected to be laid against a 17-year-old male driver at the conclusion of the investigation. |

October 4, 2003 | 42375 Armed Robbery occurred at 12:45 p.m. at 800 Windmill Road at the Cash and Carry. Two suspects with a stolen van approached the delivery driver who was picking up an order and threatened him with a hand gun. The suspects forced the delivery driver into one of the vans and the suspects then stole both vans, one containing a quantity of cigarettes, by driving them from the scene. The delivery driver was released shortly thereafter. Both vans and stolen goods were recovered by police a short time later. Suspects have not been arrested as of yet. Described as two adult males wearing camouflage clothing and masks. Delivery driver is an adult male; he was not injured. Suspects have not been arrested at this time. |

May 26, 2003 | 20665 Attempt robbery at Moosehead Brewery 656 Windmill Rd reported to police at 8:40 pm. A vehicle described as a white Dodge Neon with black bumpers pulled up to the drive through and one of the occupants placed an order. When the clerk emerged the male passenger got out of the vehicle and pointed what the clerk thought was a shotgun at him causing him to flee inside for safety while the gunman demanded cash. A security guard standing nearby saw the suspect and the gun and recognized it as a toy because of its size and a bright red tip on the end of the barrel and told the suspect he knew it was a fake . The suspect then asked if he could have his beer and got back into the car. He was refused service and the car fled out Windmill Rd , the direction of Bedford. The suspect is described as a male , 35-40 yrs old with a large belly ,standing about 5'8"-5'10" and about 230 lbs. The witnesses also stated that the driver was a female and that there were 2 small children , the back seat of the vehicle. The investigation continues. |

March 29, 2003 | 12333 Robbery at 656 Windmill Rd , Dartmouth. At 8:56 pm officers responded to the Moosehead Brewery after staff called to report a robbery. According to the witness , a car pulled up to the drive through and placed an order for a case of beer. When the clerk came out to make the sale , a male , the front passenger seat of the car displayed a shot gun and demanded cash. After all of the money that the clerk had was turned over , the car took off , a southerly direction on Windmill Rd. There were two other occupants , the car but the only description we have is of the armed male . He is described as about 6'2" medium build , wearing a black leather jacket with a dark stocking hat pulled down over his forehead. The vehicle involved is described as possibly a late 80's or early 90's sunbird style 2 door , blue , color with graphic designs on the sides equipt with noticeable chrome rims . Possible partial plate number is "DFT___"...No injuries occurred as a result. The investigation continues. |
