July 13, 2010 10-101607 - Pursuit - At 7:37 p.m., the West Quick Response Unit attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle being operated by a suspected unlicensed driver. The vehicle initially pulled over and stopped but then quickly fled. A brief pursuit ensued but was terminated as the driver was known to police and road conditions were poor. The vehicle was later recovered abandoned and subsequently seized. The matter is still under investigation and charges are expected.


April 20, 2010 10-54899 - Injury Accident - At 4:30 a.m., a vehicle was travelling north bound on Highway 111, the driver fell asleep and the vehicle flipped. Fire Service attended to extricate the driver from the vehicle and he was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.




March 12, 2010 10-35699 - Impaired Driver - At 10:45 p.m., a citizen called police to advise he was following an impaired driver in the south end of Halifax. A description of the vehicle and the direction it was going was provided. The impaired driver was located and stopped shortly thereafter. The 69-year-old man was taken into custody and will appear in court on a future date to face charges of impaired driving and failing the breathalyzer.


January 18, 2010 10-8709 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At approximately 4:15 p.m., a 27-year-old male driver lost control of his vehicle, causing the vehicle to jump the curb, drive over the sidewalk and into a fence near the Devonshire Arena. A woman carrying two small children received a minor arm injury but the children were not injured. The driver was issued a summary offence ticket for not having a licensed driver with him. Road conditions were slippery at the time of the accident.


July 15, 2009 102213 - Crash - At 1:17 p.m. today, a driver operating his vehicle on the 111 Highway near the 118 Highway, lost control of his vehicle, striking the center barrier, swerved across the highway where he struck the curb and flipped his vehicle over onto its roof. The vehicle was extensively damaged, and the driver escaped with no injuries. The accident is still under investigation.


July 15, 2009 09-102213 - Motor Vehicle Accident - At 1:17 p.m. a driver lost control of his vehicle while driving Highway 111 near Highway 118, and struck the center barrier, swerved across the highway where he struck the curb, resulting in the vehicle flipping over onto its roof. The vehicle was extensively damaged, but fortunately the driver escaped with no injuries. The accident remains under investigation.


river road February 15, 2009 09-23483 - Disturbance - At 9:15 p.m. West Division officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving two men fighting and a crowd of approximately 15 people gathered to watch outside of an address on River Road in Halifax. The crowd disbursed upon police arrival and officers located a man whom had been pepper sprayed. He received only minor injuries and was treated on scene by EHS. There are no suspects at this time. This matter remains under investigation.


river road February 11, 2009 09-21480 - Assault with a Weapon - At approximately 9:15 p.m. police attended a residence on River Road, Halifax in regards to a complaint of a victim being sprayed with a mace-like substance. A 32-year-old male was located and treated by EHS for an assault with what is believed to be bear spray. The matter is not believed to be a random act and remains under investigation.


October 14, 2008 08-153869 - Injury Accident - At 11:32 p.m. a single vehicle accident occurred on the Bicentennial Highway near Exit 1b when a driver lost control of his vehicle. The driver was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.


100 river road September 14, 2008 08-136918 - Assault with a Weapon - At 5:53 p.m. two men in the 0 to 100 block of River Road, Halifax, were assaulted by two suspects wielding a stick and a hammer. The victims were treated at the scene for minor injuries. A 26-year-old man was arrested and will appear in court on September 15 to face a number of charges. This was not a random act as the parties are known to each other.


44 river road September 7, 2008 08-132794 - Arson - At approximately 2:50 a.m. police responded to a fire at 44 River Road, Halifax. The initial call indicated that residents were trapped on the 3rd floor of the apartment building. All the residents were successfully rescued by the fire department. Two residents, one elderly female and one male sustained minor injuries due to smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.


January 6, 2008 08-2549/2887 - Threats - Police were called to a Glenforest Drive address early this morning to investigate a threats complaint. A 21-year-old female stated she had been threatened by her ex-boyfriend. The investigation led officers to a residence on Riverside Drive in Sackville late in the afternoon. Police obtained a warrant to enter the residence and arrest the suspect. Two occupants, a 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old female were taken into custody inside the residence at 5:45 p.m. Police seized a shotgun, ammunition and a large quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia from the home. Both parties will appear in Court on Monday to face drug and weapon related charges. The man also faces 'Uttering Threats' and 'Breach of Undertaking' charges arising out of the original call.


June 2, 2007 07-79330 Injury Accident - At 3:44 p.m. a driver lost control of his vehicle and struck a parked car. The 18-year-old male driver and a 19-year-old female passenger were treated in hospital for non life-threatening injuries. The third passenger and the three occupants of the parked vehicle were uninjured. The incident remains under investigation.



April 4, 2007 07-48266 Injury Accident - At 11:07 p.m. the driver of a vehicle on Highway 111 at Exit 6 lost control of his vehicle and flipped. The driver and passenger were both transported to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.


February 7, 2007 07-18910 Injury Accident - At 9:40 a.m., the driver of vehicle that struck a cube van was treated for minor injuries.


river road July 2, 2005 32073 Robbery A male victim reports that he was , the area of River Road at approximately 10 a.m. when he was approached from behind by a male who hit the victim , the head and relieved him of his wallet. The suspect, who is only described as wearing a red jacket, fled on foot. The victim was not injured. The area was checked with negative results and the incident is still under investigation.


September 26, 2004 04-43695 At approximately 12:15 a.m. a pizza delivery driver was robbed at knife-point by two males. The male driver had delivered a pizza to an address on Olivet Sreett where the suspects entered his car and forced him to drive to a nearby bank machine. The victim was then made to withdraw cash from the machine. The suspects also stole a car stereo, X box and cell phone. The victim was not injured. The suspects are described as males, one wearing a plaid shirt and jeans. The matter is still under investigation.

river road August 13, 2004 04-36005 A pizza delivery driver was robbed of cash and a bottle of pop by a male with a knife and a handgun as he made a delivery on River Road at 12:48 a.m. The suspect is described as male, dressed all , black with a mask over his face, 5'6" and 140 lbs. The victim was not injured and the suspect fled the area on foot. The area was checked with negative results. The incident is still under investigation.

river rd March 26, 2003 11914 Robbery at River Rd & Sylvia Ave. Reported to police at 09:50 am a 14 yr old boy was knocked to the ground by another male and had his wallet stolen. The boy grabbed the wallet back and ran home and told his mother. The boy was bruised by not seriously injured. The investigation continues.

river lane & BEDFORD Hwy March 11, 2003 9877 Injury accident - At 5:30 p.m. there was a two vehicle accident on Bedford Hwy near River Lane. A male and female were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

river road October 24, 2001 44297 - Five males, between the ages of 19 and 30, were arrested after police searched an apartment on River Road at approximately 11:17 p.m. Crack cocaine, money, firearms and ammunition were all seized. All five suspects are charged with drug offences, including trafficking, and weapons charges. They will appear , court
river road September 26, 2001 39997 - A 21 year old female was arrested after HRP Drug Section memebers conducted a search of three apartments , the River Road area at around 9:25 p.m. A quantity of drugs were seized. The suspect will appear , court .

river rd August 27, 2001 35732- The HRP Drug Unit, Street Crime Unit and Patrol Officers conducted a search of two residences at a River Rd. apartment complex. Seized were a quantity of marijuana, a quantity of cash, and ammunition. Charges are expected to laid following the completion of the investigation. A youth who was found at one of the apartments was arretsed for breaching his probation order and he will be appearing , court tomorrow morning. Police continue to investigate.


river rd July 5, 2001 27202- There was an attempted robbery near the River Rd. At 4:45PM a local paper boy was stopped by 2 males , the area of River Rd. Money was demanded and violence was threatened. After the suspects frisked the victim and found no money they continued on their way. Suspects are described as two males, aged 16-17 years old. Police continue to investigate.
river rd May 15, 2001 19510- At approximately 7:14PM an assault took place on River Rd. An adult male was taken to hospital but he is not providing police with information at this time.
January 9, 2001 1372 - One youth faces charges after HRP Drug members conducted a raid at a River Road address , Dartmouth. A small amount of crack cocaine wa seized as well as an ammunition.
