194 chain lake drive November 22, 2011 11-178659/178679 - Robbery - At 4:54 p.m., police responded to a report of a robbery at Bouclair Home, 194 Chain Lake Drive in Halifax. An employee stated that a man entered the store, produced an imitation gun and demanded cash. The suspect fled the store when the employee refused to give him money. The suspect was described as a black man, 5'7", stocky build, wearing dark clothing with a black ski mask pulled over his face.

At 5:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a robbery at the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission Store, 6990 Mumford Road in Halifax. A cashier stated that a man approached her and demanded cash from her register. The cashier observed what she believed to be a handgun in the man's possession. The suspect left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect description was similar to the first robbery.

The incidents remain under investigation by the HRP and RCMP Integrated General Investigative Section.


0-100 lakefront drive November 13, 2011 11-173959 - Break and Enter - At 6:40 p.m., police responded to an apartment complex in the 0-100 block of Lakefront Drive in Dartmouth. Two males were reported breaking into the coin operated laundry rooms. A 23-year-old male was arrested nearby and held for court to face Break and Enter charges x 2, Mischief x 2, Breaching a Probation Order x 2, Breaching a Recognizance and Possession of Break and Enter Tools. Investigators are attempting to identify the second male involved.

209 chain lake drive October 9, 2011 11-155177 - Lost Youths - At 8:15 p.m., police responded to an emergency cell phone call from two teenagers who had become lost on the walking trails in the area of 209 Chain Lake Drive in Halifax. Several police units and a K-9 team were deployed into the vicinity. The members used a combination of GPS, lights, sirens, voicing out and the K9 team to locate the youths, who were missing for approximately 1:30 hours. Both youths were turned over to their waiting parents safe and sound.


81 lakecrest drive October 3, 2011 11-151825 - Shooting - At 5:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a man who had been shot in the stairwell of an apartment building at 81 Lakecrest Drive in Dartmouth. The 20-year-old man was taken to the QE2 Health Science Centre with non life threatening injuries. A K-9 Unit attended and checked the area with patrol members but the suspect could not be located. Members from the General Investigation Section along with Forensic Identification are continuing the investigation.


lake & grosvenor road September 18, 2011 11-142882 - Vehicle and Cyclist Collision - At 8:05 p.m., police responded to a vehicle and cyclist collision in the area of Kearney Lake and Grosvenor Roads in Halifax. A 14-year-old cyclist struck the side of the van,smashing out the window, as the van was making a right turn onto Grosvenor Road. The youth wasn't wearing a helmet at the time and received a cut to the back of his head. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. No charges are expected.


128 chain lake drive August 26, 2011 11-129794 - Theft of Vehicles - At 3:15 p.m., two men, each driving a stolen truck, entered a lot across from 128 Chain Lake Drive, and attached a trailers to the back of each trucks and drove off. As they were leaving the area, an employee noticed them and called police. The two men parked the trucks and fled the area on foot. The first suspect was described as a white man, with a thin face, dark complexion and a mustache, and wearing a black bandana, black t-shirt. The second suspect was described as a white man, between 20 to 30-years-old, with black hair and a mustache, and wearing a dark t-shirt. The matter remains under investigation.


0-100 lakecrest drive August 17, 2011 11-124668/124679/124701 - Drug and Weapons Charges - At 11:30 p.m., patrol officers stopped a vehicle in the 0-100 block of Lakecrest Drive in Dartmouth in connection with an impaired driving complaint. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and a subsequent search resulted in a quantity of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia being seized. Officers recognized one of the passengers as being on a curfew. He was arrested and found to be in possession of a loaded handgun. Investigators are currently attempting to trace the origin of the gun. A third man was also arrested but later released without charges.

Twenty-year-old Anthony Fraser of Dartmouth faces charges of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, impaired operation of a motor vehicle and having a blood alcohol level in excess of the legal limit.

Twenty-year-old Kartel Brandon Lee Pye faces four counts of breaching his conditions as well as the following weapons related charges:

S. 86(2) CC - Unsafe Storage Contrary to Regulations
S. 88 CC - Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
S. 90 CC - Carrying a Concealed Weapon

S. 94 CC - Unauthorized Possession in a Motor Vehicle
S. 95 CC - Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
S. 96 CC - Possession of a Weapon Obtained by the Commission of an Offence
S. 108 CC - Tampering with a Serial Number
S. 117.01(1) CC - Possession of Weapons Contrary to a Prohibition Order

Both men were scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.


chain lake drive June 25, 2011 11-91549 - Missing Person The Halifax Regional Police along with numerous ground search and rescue teams from around the province continue to search for John MacInnis who was reported missing on the evening of (5:12 p.m.)
In relation to the interim media release on the deceased male found on Chain Lake Drive in Bayers Lake, the male was positively identified this afternoon as seventy-three year old John Donald MacInnis. Mr. MacInnis was last seen at his home in Fairview on June 23rd, and reported missing. Halifax Ground Search and Rescue and Halifax Regional Police conducted a search of the surrounding areas. His body was found today behind a business on Chain Lake. Foul play is not suspected.

Halifax Regional Police offer condolences to the family and friends of Mr. MacInnis at this sad time. Police would also like to thank the public for their assistance in calling in possible sightings of Mr. MacInnis and Halifax Ground Search and Rescue Volunteers who searched long hours.



albro lake road & VICTORIA Road May 29, 2011 11-76819 - Robbery - At 9:00 p.m., the Petro Canada Gas Station, 240 Victoria Road in Dartmouth was robbed. A white male entered the business carrying a kitchen knife and a black duffel bag, demanding cigarettes. He received a small quantity of cash and fled and was last seen running eastbound along Albro Lake Road. The suspect was described as a white male with black hair and brown eyes, early 20’s, 6'tall, approximately 200 pounds. Wearing a black jacket, grey sweat pants and a grey t-shirt covering his face. A vehicle is believed to have been waiting for the suspect as the K-9 track ended quickly. Staff working at the time were not injured and police do not have any suspects at this time.

201 chain lake drive April 14, 2011 11-53206 - Robbery - At 2:45 pm Halifax Regional Police responded to EB Games, 201 Chain Lake Drive in Halifax. The store clerk reports that two males entered the store and one believed to be armed with a hand gun. The suspects removed cash, video games and several gaming consoles and fled the area in a vehicle. No one was injured during the incident. The vehicle was described as a black colored Ford Explorer with silver rims. Suspects are described as one dark skinned male, approximately 5’5" tall, wearing a hoodie and baggy jeans. The second suspect was described as 5’9" tall, wearing a camouflage mask over his face, a black hoodie with a gray t-shirt underneath, jeans and white sneakers. This incident remains under investigation. 0-100 lakecrest drive March 9, 2011 11-35828 - Assault with a weapon - Approximately, 10:15 p.m., a 24-year-old male arrived at the Dartmouth General Hospital suffering from stab wounds. It appears, the male was stabbed in or around a building in the 0-100 block of Lakecrest Drive in Dartmouth. The victim’s injuries are believed to be serious but not life threatening. There is no suspect description at this time.






albro lake road March 4, 2011 11-32933 - Weapons - At 1:23 p.m., police responded to a weapons related call in the area of 31˝ Albro Lake Road in Dartmouth. Upon arrival, officers located a 17-year-old male who had been shot in the abdomen. He was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. While on scene, police recovered a firearm, believed to be the weapon involved in the shooting. A man was taken into custody and currently is being held on weapon's related charges. It is believed at this time that the parties involved are known to each other. The matter remains under investigation.

194 chain lake drive January 16, 2011 11-8463 - Armed Robbery - At approximately 7:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a robbery at the Chatters Salon, 194 Chain Lake Drive, Halifax. A man wearing a ski mask entered the business, produced a hand gun and demanded cash from the staff. The man received a undisclosed amount of money and drove away in a pick-up truck. No one was injured during the incident. The suspect was described as a black man, approximately 30-years-old, 6' tall, wearing a black ski mask, dressed in all black. The vehicle was described as a light beige 4-door GMC pick up without a cap on the back.


lakefront drive October 3, 2010 10-149396 - Robbery - At 2:33 a.m., police responded to a report of a robbery in Dartmouth. A pizza delivery driver delivering a pizza to a residence on Lakefront Drive was confronted by two males, one armed with a knife, who demanded the pizza. The victim threw the pizza at the two suspects and then the armed suspect swung his knife at the victim, cutting his hand. The suspects fled the area and the victim drove himself to the hospital. He was treated and released for a minor stab wound to his hand. The suspects were described as two black males, one with a ponytail. The matter remains under investigation.


124 kearney lake road October 1, 2010 10-148622 - Attempt Robbery - At 1:15 a.m., police responded to a report of an attempt robbery at the Petro Canada Gas Station, 124 Kearney Lake Road, Halifax. Upon arrival, officers learned that four males attempted to gain entry into the convenience store area of the gas station. The Petro Canada Station has security glass and doors, and customers are not permitted to enter the store after certain time of night. One of the males smashed the butt of the rifle he was carrying into the door and two others attempted to pull it open. The rifle was pointed at the clerk from the outside and the suspects demanded to be let in. The clerk refused to let them in and activiated an alarm. The four males fled the area. No one was injured and nothing was taken. A K-9 unit searched the area but did not locate the suspects. The clerk was able to provide partial descriptions of the suspects. All of the suspects were male and had hoodies pulled over their heads. One suspect was described as being thin, approximately 5'11", wearing a black hoodie and a dark bandana over his face. A second suspect was described as being approximately 5'6", with straight brown hair and blue eyes, wearing a blue and purple hoodie and a white bandana over his face. The matter remains under investigation.


CHERRY drive & albro lake road October 1, 2010 10-149659 - Weapons - At 4:50 p.m., police responded to a report of a man carrying a hand gun in the area of Demetreous Lane and Cherry Drive in Dartmouth. A citizens driving in the area observed a man holding what he believed to be a handgun as he walked toward Bras Dor Lane. The suspect was described as a black male in his early 20's, wearing a black hoodie with dark pants. A K-9 unit was called and police located a male matching the description near Slayter Street and Albro Lake Road. After a brief chase, the male was apprehended and searched. No firearm was located and the male was released. No charges were laid and there are no other suspects at this time.


124 kearney lake road September 15, 2010 10-140051 - Robbery - At 4:15 a.m., police responded to a robbery at the Petro Canada, 124 Kearney Lake Road in Halifax. A male suspect entered the Petro Canada carrying a kitchen knife and instructed the female employee to open the till. Once the till was opened, the suspect took money and two cartons of cigarettes and fled on foot towards Parkland Avenue. K9 conducted a track but the suspect was not located. The file remains under investigation. The suspect was described as a white male in his 20s, 5'9" tall, wearing a blue hoodie and a shaved head,



albro lake road & VICTORIA Road September 15, 2010 10-140648 - Assault with a Weapon - At 11:50 p.m., police responded to an apartment building on Jackson Road near Victoria Road in Dartmouth. Information was received, approximately ten people were fighting in the hallway of an apartment building. Upon police arrival, no one was located. A male victim involved was located a short time later on Albro Lake Road, with a stab wound to his leg and cuts and abrasions to his head. The victim stated to police, he was in an apartment when the door was kicked in and several males entered and assaulted him. The victim was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. No suspect descriptions were available and the incident remains under investigation.


July 4, 2010 10-96464 - Hit and Run and Weapons Charges - At 7:40 p.m., in the area of 15 Highfield Park Drive in Dartmouth. A Honda struck a parked vehicle and male driver switched places with his female passenger and fled the scene. The accident was observed by an off duty Halifax Regional Police Officer who followed the suspect vehicle. Police witnessed an item being thrown from the suspect vehicle on Woodland Avenue. Upon searching the area, a loaded 25 caliber handgun was located. Marked patrol units responded and located the suspect vehicle in the Albro Lake Road area and after a short vehicle pursuit on a dead end street, the male and female occupants were taken into custody. The 24-year-female faces driving and weapons charges. The 25-year-old male faces charges for leaving the scene of an accident, weapons charges and charges for breaching his court orders. Both will appear in Dartmouth Court later today.




rocky lake drive June 20, 2010 10-87944 - Graffiti and Drugs/Weapons - At 2:50 a.m., officers observed four youths putting graffiti on machinery in the Bedford Lions Park. All four were arrested. Two of the youths were in possession of marijuana. One youth was in possession of a prohibited weapon. Further investigation determined that two of the youths were responsible for the graffiti at the Lions Park and also for another address on Rocky Lake Drive. Two youths, 17 and 15-years-old, face charges of property damage and possession of narcotics. A 16-year-old youth faces weapons charges. All three youths are being held for court later today. The fourth youth was released without any charges.



lake drive June 18, 2010 10-87044 - Bear Sightings - At 12:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a bear in the neighbourhood of Southgate Drive in Bedford. While responding to the report, five additional calls were received regarding two bears, one of which appeared to be a baby, in the area of Wyatt and Moirs Mill Roads. The larger bear was last seen heading toward the woods on Lake Drive. Police and Department of Natural Resources officers patrolled the wooded area but could not locate the bears. Incidents of bear sightings appear to be on the rise and citizens are reminded that they should not approach wandering bears and should report sightings to police.


lake April 5, 2010 10-47675 Missing Adults - At 9:45 p.m., Police were called to Chain Lake in Halifax, looking for two 25-year-old males, who were lost in the woods. A cell phone enabled them to call 911. Ground Search and Rescue along with Police K-9, were able to locate and return the two males to safety, approximately two hours after reporting that they were lost.

No one was injured and did not require medical treatment.


lakecrest drive March 13, 2010 10-35313 - Suspicious Fire (Arson) - At 6:30 a.m., police assisted HRM Fire Services with a fire at a building on Lakecrest Drive in Dartmouth. A storage door and contents of a storage unit located at the rear of the building suffered damage. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined but it is believed to be suspicious at this time. The matter is being followed up by the HRP and RCMP Integrated General Investigative Section in cooperation with HRM Fire Services.


lakecrest drive February 20, 2010 10-25003 - Robbery and Weapon - At 5:30 p.m., police responded to a robbery in progress call from the tenants of an apartment building on Lakecrest Drive, Dartmouth. The tenants stated that a man entered their apartment, indicated he had a firearm and demanded money. Upon arrival, officers encountered the suspect in the hallway and noticed a bulge in his side pants pocket. The suspect refused to show his hands while continuing to approach officers and was subsequently tasered. The suspect was taken into custody with minor injuries and treated by EHS at the scene. An East Preston man has been remanded to the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility and will appear in court on Monday to face charges of robbery with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and breach of probation.


January 17, 2010 10-8876 - Robbery - At approximately 9:30 p.m., a 23-year-old female, waiting for a bus in the area of Windmill and Albro Lake Roads in Dartmouth, had her purse grabbed by a male with a handgun. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim was not injured during the incident. The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 17-23-years-old, 5'9" tall, skinny build, blonde hair with scruffy facial hair and gap between his front teeth. He was wearing a black hoodie, a black knit toque, dark coloured jeans and bright white Nike sneakers. The matter remains under investigation.


111 kearney lake road January 6, 2010 10-2833 - Robbery - At 00:52 a.m., three males entered the Holiday Inn, 111 Kearney Lake Road, Halifax and demanded money. One suspect was armed with a gun and the other with a knife. The suspects fled the area after receiving a quantity of cash. No one was injured during the incident. Both suspects were described as white males, 6' tall, wearing camoflage jackets.


chain lake drive December 26, 2009 09-190089 - Attempted Robbery and Property Damage - At 10:45 p.m., a woman was at a stop light on Chain Lake Drive when two males approached her vehicle, opened her door, grabbed her wrists and demanded money. When the victim refused the suspects smashed out the rear window of her vehicle with an unknown object, possibly a base ball bat. The suspects then left the scene, running towards Walmart. The suspects were described as skinny and appeared to the victim to be of Turkish or Mexican descent. Both were dressed in dark hoodies and jeans. The first suspect spoke English well, and had crossed eyes and stubble on his face. The second male spoke in broken English using short words. The matter remains under investigation.


79 lakecrest drive November 11, 2009 09-166988 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 4:19 p.m., a vehicle and a bicycle collided with each other in the parking lot at 79 Lakecrest Drive, Dartmouth. The bicycle was driven by a 4-year-old male. The child was transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries.


November 8, 2009 09-165016 - Motor Vehicle and Pedestrian Accident - At 6:30 p.m. police responded to a report of an accident between a Metro Transit bus and pedestrian at intersection of Albro Lake and Victoria Roads in Dartmouth. A 50-year-old man was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries. Traffic was rerouted for 1 hour. The matter remains under investigation.


FLAMINGO drive & kearney lake road October 7, 2009 09-149095 - Property Damage - Two Halifax men face charges after three bus shelters were broken overnight on the Bedford Highway between Flamingo Drive and Kearney Lake Road. A local resident called police just after 2:30 a.m. stating she could see two men breaking out a bus shelter in the area of Tremont Drive. Police units arrived on scene and two men, ages 21 and 23 were arrested without incident. They each face three counts of property damage and will appear in court at a later date.


tacoma drive & LAKEFRONT Road September 14, 2009 09-137478 - Shots Fired - At 8:55 p.m., police responded to a report of shots fired on Lakefront Road in Dartmouth. Upon arrival, officers learned that one or more occupants of a dark blue Ford Fusion or similar vehicle fired more then one shot at a lone male who was walking between Joffre Street and Lakefront Road. The 23-year-old male victim fled the scene on foot and was not injured. The victim is not cooperating with police and this incident is not a random act of violence. At 11:50 p.m. the vehicle was located at the interesection of Victoria and Albro Lake Roads. The driver refused to stop for police but the vehicle was later located at the Tacoma Drive Shopping Centre. The three occupants were arrested, with two being released early this morning and the driver being held on charges of dangerous driving and fleeing police.


albro lake road & HIGHFIELD PARK Drive September 13, 2009 09-136145 - Pursuit - An 18-year-old Eastern Passage man is in custody after an early morning incident in Dartmouth. At approximately 2 a.m., police received a report of an erratic driver in a small white car in the area of Highfield Park Drive. Officers located the vehicle on Victoria Road and attempted to pull it over. The driver refused to stop and the vehicle fled outbound toward the Magazine Hill. Units pursued the vehicle for a short distance, however, the pursuit was terminated due to the speed of the suspect vehicle. Less than 10 minutes later, the vehicle was observed driving inbound on the Magazine Hill. A spike belt was deployed, but the suspect managed to avoid striking it and continued into Burnside Business Park before police lost sight of him. Approximately 15 minutes later, the suspect vehicle was spotted on Albro Lake Road. Officers attempted to stop the car, but the driver again refused. Officers pursued the vehicle onto Woodland Avenue where the driver came to a sudden stop. A following police car clipped the rear end of the suspect vehicle as it came to a stop behind it. The driver was taken into custody without incident. The matter is still under investigation, but the driver is expected to face numerous charges, including dangerous driving and fleeing police.


DUKE street & rocky lake drive September 7, 2009 09-132846 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 12:13 p.m., the driver of a motorcycle lost control of the vehicle while driving in the area of Rocky Lake Drive and Duke Street. The driver was transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries.


August 15, 2009 09-119744 - Motor Vehicle Accident - At 11:58 a.m. police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 102 between the Lacewood and Kearney Lake exits. A vehicle going north, lost control and struck the guard rail, causing the vehicle to flip and land on its roof, then slide 20 meters down the road. The two occupants of the vehicle received only minor cuts and bruises. Both were taken to the hospital and later released.

At 2:06 p.m. HRP was advised of a motorcycle and truck collision near this location. Adult male motorcyclist was transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries. Matter remains under investigation.




121 williams lake road July 8, 2009 09-98056 - Break & Enter - At 1:55 a.m. police responded to an alarm at Cunard Junior High School, 121 Williams Lake Road location. Upon arrival, West patrol officers found an exterior door damaged and several youths were located inside. A K-9 unit assisted with a search of school. An undetermined amount of cash was taken from the ffice. Three youths were charged with break and enter, and will be appearing in youth court at a later date. The matter remains under investigation to determine if any additional charges will be laid against three other youths.


kearney lake road July 8, 2009 09-98180 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident A transport truck travelling on Highway 102 near Kearney Lake Road was cut off by an outbound car. The transport truck then struck the highway divider and became hung up on it causing it to slide along the divider for approximately 400 metres. As a result of the accident the transport truck leaked diesel fuel onto the highway. The driver of the car received minor injuries. The accident caused significant traffic delays. HRP Forensic Identification and Traffic and Accident Investigation Units, as well as HRM Fire Services, and provincial Vehicle Compliance Unit and Department of Environment attended to assist with the accident and its clean up. The matter remains under investigation.


July 1, 2009 09-94339 - Lost Person - At 9:12 a.m. a man contacted police via his cell phone advising that he had gone swimming in the Colpitt Lake area around 9 p.m the previous evening and then could not find his way out of the woods. Halifax Regional Ground Search and Rescue was activated, along with an HRP K-9 unit. At approximately 2 p.m. the man was found in the area of Flat Lake, approximately 1.5 km south of Colpitt Lake. The man was assessed by EHS for minor injuries related to exposure and then released.


PROSPECT road & ragged lake boulevard June 24, 2009 09-91128 - Injury Accident - At 7:50 p.m. officers responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and a pick-up truck at the intersection of Prospect Road and Ragged Lake Boulevard in Halifax. A man operating the motorcycle was transported to hospital with non-life threatening leg injuries. No other injuries resulted. The accident is still under investigation and no charges have been laid at this time.


albro lake road & WYSE Road May 15, 2009 09-69029 - Weapons - At 1:50 a.m., the Quick Response Unit members stopped a suspicious vehicle on Wyse Road near Albro Lake Road in Dartmouth. A loaded handgun was located in the vehicle and the occupants were taken into custody. All five males will be charged with weapons offences, one will also be charged with breaching a court order.

416 rocky lake drive April 5, 2009 09-48107 - Fire - At 1:50 a.m. police and HRM Fire Services responded to 416 Rocky Lake Drive, Bedford, to investigate a report of smoke on the first floor of a 21 unit building. A fire was located in the underground garage inside a garbage bin and was determined not to be suspicious. One adult male was transported to the QEII Emergency by EHS suffering from non-life threatening injuries likely related to smoke inhalation. No other injuries resulted. Approximately 50 residents were displaced initially, with Metro Transit providing a bus as temporary shelter on scene. All tenants were eventually returned to their residences.


100 chain lake drive March 20, 2009 09-40282 - Injury Accident - At 4:36 p.m. the driver of a sport utility vehicle travelling in the 100 block of Chain Lake Drive, Halifax, lost control while attempting to pass another vehicle. The sport utility vehicle bounced off of the curb, struck the second vehicle and then struck a power pole. The man driving the sport utility vehicle was ejected upon impact with power pole. He was transported to the QEII Emergency with non-life threatening injuries. No one else was injured as a result of the accident. The matter remains under investigation.


albro lake road & VICTORIA Road March 13, 2009 09-36280 - Robbery - At 11 p.m. a man entered the Petro Canada Service Station at 240 Victoria Road in Dartmouth and went into the washroom. When he came out of the washroom, he approached the clerk with his hand in his pocket and demanded the money from the clerk. The clerk gave the suspect a sum of money and the suspect fled on foot towards Albro Lake Road. The suspect was described as a white man, approximately 27-years-old, skinny, dirty blond hair and wearing a beige puffy jacket.


133 kearney lake road March 2, 2009 09-30475 - Robbery - At 8:20 p.m. a clerk at the Holiday Inn, 133 Kearney Lake Road, was robbed at knife point by three males. The suspects left on foot with a quantity of cash. No one was injured during the incident. The first suspect was wearing a black hoodie, dark pants and a red bandana. The second suspect was wearing a black hoodie, dark pants and a black and white skeleton type mask. The third suspect was wearing a dark hoodie and a dark coloured mask.


February 23, 2009 09-26987 - Robbery - At 12:15 a.m. a man was walking in the area of a service station near Victoria and Albro Lakes Roads in Dartmouth when he was approached by three men. The suspects pushed the victim to the ground and took his personal property before fleeing the area. The victim received minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment and later released. The suspects were described as black males, approximately 25-years-old, wearing dark clothing. The incident remains under investigation.


kearney lake road February 21, 2009 09-25753 - Motor Vehicle Accident - Police responded to a single car accident in the outbound lane of Highway 102 between the Kearney Lake Road Exit and Hammond Plains Road shortly before 9 a.m. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which flipped several times before landing in the ditch area. A woman, the lone occupant of the vehicle, exited the car not injured. Witnesses to the accident indicate the vehicle was travelling at an excessive speed prior to the collision. Police are continuing to investigate.


kearney lake road February 18, 2009 09-24151 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At around 8:45 a.m. a single vehicle rollover accident occurred on Highway 102 inbound, approximately 2 km from the Kearney Lake Road interchange. Three women in their early 20's were injured, with one receiving serious but not life threatening injuries.


400 rocky lake drive February 13, 2009 09-22571 - Robbery - At 10 p.m. police were called to the 400 block of Rocky Lake Drive in Bedford in response to a report of a robbery. A young man was called over by four males who demanded his personal belongings. One of the four males showed what is believed to be a handgun. The victim was struck in the head. The suspects are described as 16-17-year-old youths, all wearing black clothing and masks covering their faces. The matter remains under investigation.


February 2, 2009 09-16681 - Weapon - At 1:28 p.m. a man pulled a knife on another man who was shoveling his driveway in the area of Albro Lake and Wyse Roads in Dartmouth. The victim in this incident was not injured. The suspect was arrested and the matter remains under investigation.


kearney lake road January 24, 2009 09-10832 - Drugs - Officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 102 near the Kearney Lake Road and upon speaking with the driver, detected a strong smell of marihuana. Marihuana and a set of scales were seized and the 18-year-old male driver faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

lake road December 21, 2008 08-188553 - Motor Vehicle Accident and Impaired Driving - At 1:05 a.m. a single vehicle accident occurred in the 1800 block of the Old Sambro Lake Road when a 1/2 ton truck lost control, ending up in the ditch. The driver was arrested at the scene for impaired driving and later failed the breathlyzer. The 46- year-old man will appear in court at a later date to face impaired driving charges.


kearney lake road & HAMMONDS PLAINS Road December 12, 2008 08-184050 - Motor Vehicle Accident - At 12:30 a.m. a vehicle collided into a power pole near the intersection of Kearney Lake and Hammonds Plains Road. The male driver was seen fleeing the scene. No injuries were sustained during the incident. Police located the driver a short distance away on Kearney Lake Road. The 46- year-old man was arrested for impairment and will appear in court at a later date to face charges related to driving and breathlyzer offences.


BEDFORD highway & rocky lake drive December 11, 2008 08-183332 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 5:48 p.m. a vehicle struck a pedestrian at the intersection of Rocky Lake Drive and the Bedford Highway. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.


CENTRAL street & rocky lake dr November 24, 2008 08-174347 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 6:20 p.m. a pedistrian sustained non life-threatening injuries when struck by a vehicle at Central Street at Rocky Lake Dr. The driver of the vehicle was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

230 chain lake drive November 14, 2008 08-169854 - Motor Vehicle Accident, Heavy Property Damage - At 7:40 p.m. a man driving a vehicle suffered a medical emergency and went off of the road and struck a power pole near 230 Chain Lake Drive, Halifax. The power pole and his vehicle were heavily damaged. The man was treated at the scene by EHS and released. The matter remains under investigation.


November 7, 2008 08-165606 - Injury Accident - At 8:53 a.m. a vehicle and bicycle collided at the intersection of Williams Lake and Herring Cove Roads, Halifax. The cyclist was treated on scene by EHS for non life threatening injuries.


chain lake drive September 17, 2008 08-138172 - Robbery - At approximately 12 p.m. police responded to a robbery Bayers Lake Industrial Park near Harvey's Restaurant. The victim was walking up the roadway when he was approached by an unknown male. The suspect produced a knife, told the victim to "face the wall", and grabbed his hair to turn him away. He then demanded that the victim give him his money. The victim turned over a small amount of cash and then the suspect demanded the victim's backpack. As the victim was unclasping his backpack, a vehicle drove up the roadway causing the suspect to flee toward Chain Lake Drive. The victim was not injured during the incident. The suspect was described as a white man, 160 lbs, wearing dark sunglasses and a white hoody with the hood pulled up. The matter remains under investigation.


September 9, 2008 08-134735 - Chemical Spill - At 11:20 p.m. a concrete pump truck parked on Cowie Hill Road near Margate Drive, Halifax, leaked hydrochloric acid(concrete cleaner) over the street. Part of Cowie Hill Road was shut down until clean up could be completed.


GO 08-133631 Motor Vehicle Accident -At 9:00 p.m. a female passenger of a motorcycle fell off the back of the bike on Kearney Lake Road near the 102 Highway. She was treated in Hospital for non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the motorcycle was charged with several motor vehicle offences including driving while suspended.


31 albro lake road August 18, 2008 08-122612 - Robbery - At 10:35 p.m. a man entered JC's Convenience store at 31 Albro Lake Road, Dartmouth, wielding what appeared to be a steak knife. He demanded money and received an amount of cash beore fleeing in the direction of Farrell Street. The suspect was described as a white male in his early to mid 20's, 5'6" tall, 150 lbs, wearing a red, fleece hoodie with the hood up covering his head, a dark blue bandana covering his nose and mouth, dark blue jeans and black gloves. His eyes were described as "piercing blue." The matter remains under investigation.


kearney lake road & PARKLAND Drive August 11, 2008 08-118359 - Attempted Robbery - At 4:20 this morning, a woman reported she was arriving at her home on Rosehurst Close (off of Parkland Drive) and noted a man standing at her front door. She thought it was a family member, but as she approached, she saw it was not. The man, who had a bandana over his face, grabbed for her purse. A brief struggle ensued as the suspect tried to take the purse, but he was unsuccessful, and eventually ran off empty handed. The woman was not injured during the incident. She last observed the suspect running on Parkland Drive in the direction of Kearney Lake Road. She could only describe the suspect as a man of average height with a thin build, wearing a dark top and blue jeans, along with the bandana over his face.


kearney lake road July 27, 2008 08-110613 - Robbery - At approximately 1:20 a.m. a 31-year-old woman was approached by a man in the parking lot of the ESSO station on Kearney Lake Road. She had just left the station after withdrawing some money from the ATM located at the business. The man threatened her with a piece of wood he was carrying as he approached her. He grabbed her purse and fled the scene. The victim was not injured during the incident. The suspect was described as a white man, early 30's, 5'10" tall, 200 lbs, dark brown hair, bald spot near the crown, wearing dark grey camouflage pattern shorts, a gold polo style shirt and black sandals. The matter remains under investigation.


lake July 16, 2008 08-103694 - Just before 11 a.m. a lifeguard in Penhorn Lake in Dartmouth discovered a man's body below the surface on the east side of the lake, near the public beach. Based on evidence found near the scene, the body is believed to be that of a local man in his thirties and the death is not believed suspicious. The incident is under investigation.

rocky lake drive July 1, 2008 08-96051 - Drug Search - At 4 p.m. a member of the Integrated Drug Unit, assisted by West Division Patrol members, pulled over an Acura Integra on Rocky Lake Drive in Bedford. A quantity of cocaine was discovered in the possession of one of the vehicle's two occupants. As a result, the man, 20, from Bedford, is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow charged with 'Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking.' The car's driver, 19, from Hammonds Plains, is scheduled to answer to the same charge in court at a later date.



100 lakefront road June 25, 2008 08-92206 - Animal Complaint - At approximately 1:00 a.m. a call was received from a residence in the 100 block of Lakefront Road, Dartmouth. The residents discovered a snake in their bedroom when retiring for the night. The snake was described as yellow, orange and red in color and 3-4-feet long. The snake was captured and turned over to HRM Animal Services. The snake is not believed to be poisonous and appears to be a pet that had gotten loose. Ownership has not been established at this time. The matter remains under investigation.


100 albro lake road June 25, 2008 08-92075 - Drug Search - At approximately 5:00 p.m. drug search was conducted at a residence in the 100 block of Albro Lake Road, Dartmouth. A quantity of marijuana and related drug paraphernalia was seized. Two men will appear in court at a later date to face charges of 'Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.'


300 kearney lake road June 23, 2008 08-90958 - Robbery - At 11:30 p.m. a man entered the Needs convenience store at 70 Lacewood Drive, Halifax and indicated he had a weapon. The suspect demanded specific merchandise which was handed over by the clerk. The man then left the business. The weapon was not seen during the incident. The suspect is described as a very thin black man in his early thirties, wearing a green hat, grey sweater, and jeans. The matter remains under investigation.


Arrest - At 4 p.m., an off duty HRP member observed a Dodge Magnum on Kearney Lake Road he recognized as having been recently reported stolen. The officer contacted members working in the area (in the meantime the vehicle pulled into an address in the 300 block of Kearney Lake Road). A man and woman were taken into custody without incident. As a result of investigation by the Integrated General Investigative Section, the man and woman, both 37, were charged with possession of the stolen vehicle.

Also, a number of stolen tools were found in the vehicle that were identified as having come from two recent break-ins, one yesterday at a residence on Patton Road in Sackville, and another two weekends ago at a construction site in Dartmouth Crossing. The both the man and woman were charged with yesterday's Sackville break, while the man was charged with the Dartmouth Crossing incident. Both are scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial court today.


rocky lake drive June 20, 2008 08-89551 - Injury Motorcycle Accident - At approximately 3:45 p.m. a group of motorcycles were travelling outbound on Rocky Lake Drive. One of the motorcycles ran over some gravel near the side of the road, causing the motorcyle to slide into the guard rail. The 20-year-old driver was thrown from the motorcycle. He was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injures. Charges are not pending in this matter.


BLUEWATER road & kearney lake road June 20, 2008 08-88949 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - Police are on scene of a two vehicle accident at Kearney Lake Road and Bluewater Road. Just before 3:30 p.m., a two vehicle accident occurred at Kearney Lake and Bluewater Roads. It appears at this time that a small car travelling on Bluewater Road went through a stop sign and struck a van travelling outbound on Kearney Lake Road. The driver of the van and his small son were uninjured in the accident. The driver of the car was taken to the QE11 with life threatening injuries. The accident is under investigation by the Accident Investigation Team.


kearney lake road June 19, 2008 08-88685 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - Police responded to a head on collision on the Kearney Lake Road in the area of Belle Street just before 6:30 a.m. It appears that one vehicle crossed the centre line and struck an oncoming vehicle. The drivers of both vehicles walked away with minor injuries. The accident remains under investigation at this time. The roadway was closed for close to three hours while officers conducted their investigation and cleaned up the debris.


May 9, 2008 08-67171 - Missing Mountain Bikers - At 5:00 p.m. police were called to the Bayers Lake Industrial Park in relation to three men who went missing while mountain biking in the woods. The men left during the morning and were to return at 1:00 p.m. As police were preparing to look for them, one man emerged from the woods in Bayers Lake Industrial Park, while the other two came out of the woods on Highway 102. All three men were cold and wet, but did not sustain any injuries.


kearney lake road May 9, 2008 08-66407 - Motor Vehicle Accident - At 10:10 a.m. police responded to a motor vehicle accident on the 102 Highway inbound at Kearney Lake Road. An 86-year-old driver attempted to stop suddenly for traffic that had come to a stop for a flock of ducks on the highway. He pulled out into the center lane to avoid rear ending a vehicle and lost control of his vehicle, ending up in the ditch. The driver received a cut to his head and required treatment from EHS for non life threatening injuries.


209 chain lake drive March 20, 2008 08-40585 - Robbery - At 9:26 p.m. police were called to the Burger King, 209 Chain Lake Drive, Halifax in relation to a robbery. Upon arrival police found that a 14-year-old male had been assaulted and robbed of a small amount of cash by three female youths. The victim was not injured during the incident. Two 17-year-old and one 15-year-old females were arrested and charged with 'Robbery.'


80 lakecrest drive March 18, 2008 08-39247 - Suspicious Fire - Police were called to an apartment building in the 80 block of Lakecrest Drive, Dartmouth, by HRM Fire Services in relation to a device that had been used to start a fire in the hallway of the building. The Identification and Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit attended and determined that a crude device had been fashioned to start a fire. There was minimal damage to the building and no injuries as a result of the fire. The matter remains under investigation.


February 23, 2008 08-26713 - Lost Person - At 6:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a missing person in a wooded area adjacent to Theakston Avenue, Halifax. A 15-year-old boy walking through the woods in the direction of Williams Lake Road, ventured off of the path and became lost. The youth called police on his cell phone and was able to provide some landmark information. Ground Search and Rescue were called in to assist as it was a thickly wooded area. The youth was located shortly after 8:00 p.m. He was in good condition, just very cold.


lakeshore drive February 18, 2008 08-24509 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 1:45 PM, police responded to an accident car and school bus accident near the intersection of Mic Mac Boulevard and Lakeshore Drive, Dartmouth. The school bus drove into the rear of a car which was stopped, causing extensive damage to the car. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital for non life threatening injuries. None of the children on the bus were injured. No charges have been laid at this time as the matter is still under investigation.


DUNBRACK street & kearney lake road February 9, 2008 08-20680 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 5:25 p.m., a single vehicle accident occurred when a vehicle hit a utility pole near the intersection of Dunbrack Street and Kearney Lake Road, Halifax. A 6-year-old passenger received minor injuries in the incident.


201 chain lake drive January 28, 2008 08-13897 - Industrial Accident - At 11:00 a.m., police responded to an industrial accident at Global Pet Foods, 201 Chain Lake Drive. A 43-year-old male employee was standing on a step stool attempting to reach an item on an upper shelf when he slipped and fell, hitting his head on the ceramic floor. He suffered a small cut to the back of his head and attended hospital on his own. The Nova Scotia Department of Labour was notified.


albro lake road January 17, 2008 08-8299 - Drug Search - Drug searches were conducted at two residences on Albro Lake Road, Dartmouth, resulting in the arrest of a 45-year-old man. Marihuana, marihuana plants, cigarettes, drug paraphernalia and an amount of cash were seized. The accused will appear in court at a later date.


LEAMAN drive & albro lake road January 17, 2008 08-9022 - Pedestrian and Motor Vehicle Accident - At approximately 8:15 p.m., a 25- year-old woman was struck while crossing within the crosswalk at Albro Lake Road and Leaman Drive, Dartmouth. The victim received minor knee injuries. The driver of the vehicle was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act with 'Failing to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk.'


220 chain lake drive December 16, 2007 07-189747 - Bomb Threat - At approximately 6:00 p.m., police responded to the WalMart on 220 Chain Lake Drive in Halifax. A phone call was received that indicated there was an explosive device in the store. The store was evacuated and officers checked the premise with the assistance of employees. Nothing suspicious was located. The matter is still under investigation.


chain lake drive December 13, 2007 07-187943 - Bomb Threat - At approximately 10:00 p.m., a bomb threat was called into the Wal Mart on Chain Lake Drive in Halifax, causing the store to be evacuated. Police checked the building, but did not locate anything suspicious.


December 4, 2007 07-183995 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 6:55 p.m., police responded to a two vehicle accident involving a Metro Transit bus at Broadholme Lane and Kearney Lake Road in Halifax. The bus was parked on Broadholme Lane when an oncoming vehicle slid on ice into the front of the parked bus. A 40-year-old female passenger on the bus was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. No charges were laid.


December 1, 2007 07-182639 - Robbery - At 7:55 p.m., police responded to a robbery at the Smittys restaurant on Main Street in Dartmouth. A man entered the business carrying a knife and demanded cash. He left with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled towards Lakecrest Drive. No one was injured during the incident. The suspect was described as a light skinned black man, 5'6" tall, 145 lbs, with a pock marked face and a few days facial hair. The suspect was wearing very baggy clothing, including a white and black sweatshirt with diamonds, a zipped jacket, dark coloured pants, and a ball cap with doo-rag underneath. The matter remains under investigation.


300 kearney lake road November 27, 2007 07-180659 - Drug Search - Integrated Drug Section executed a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Kearney Lake Road in Halifax. A quantity of crack cocaine, marijuana and cash was seized. Two adults were charged with 'Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.' Two other adults were arrested on outstanding warrants.


lakercrest drive & major street November 18, 2007 07-175676 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 5:15 p.m., a 16-year-old female pedestrian was struck by a car at the corner of Lakercrest Drive and Major Street in Dartmouth. She was taken to the hospital with non life threatening leg and arm injuries. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. The accident remains under investigation.


chain lake drive November 14, 2007 07-173629 - Robbery - At 7:10 p.m., a women entered the Cotton Ginny store on Chain Lake Drive in Halifax and began to take articles of clothing. The suspect indicated to store employees that her boyfriend was outside and would stab them if they attempted to stop her. The suspect left in a white coloured vehicle. The suspect was described as a white woman, late 30's, curly hair in a ponytail, and wearing a brown suit. The matter remains under investigation.


kearney lake road November 1, 2007 07-167278 - Impaired Driver - At 9:25 p.m., citizens following a motor home camper on Highway 102 near Kearney Lake Road witnessed the vehicle swerving all over the roadway and called police. Police located the camper on the Bay Road and arrested the 42-year-old driver, who refused a Breathalyzer test. The driver will appear in court at a later date to face charges of 'Refusing the Breathalyzer' and 'Impaired Driving.'


October 28, 2007 07-163501 - Break and Enter - At 7:45 a.m., a call was received from a Trinity Avenue (Dartmouth) resident who had just observed two men break into a neighbour's shed. The suspects had walked from the area, one carrying a kitbag. Minutes later on Albro Lake Road at Windmill Road, responding East Division patrol members detained two suspects, recovering a quantity of power tools. Both men, ages 32 and 43-years-old, will appear in court at a later date charged with 'Break Enter' and 'Theft.'


albro lake road & RICHMOND Street October 23, 2007 07-162097 - At 8:20 p.m., members of the Integrated Vice Section arrested a 31-year-old Halifax woman on Agricola Street near May for 'Communicating for the Purpose of Prostitution.' She was later released, scheduled to answer to the charge in court at a later date.


It was another busy night for the East Division (Dartmouth) Quick response Unit. Just before 10 p.m., members pulled over a van on Albro Lake Road near Richmond Street. As a result of the stop, a quantity of crack cocaine was seized from the 38-year-old female driver, the vehicle's only occupant. The woman was arrested and later released, scheduled to appear in court at a later date charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The unit also arrested two adult males and an adult female (all independent of one another) during the evening for breaches of court orders.


albro lake road September 26, 2007 07-146997 - Prostitution - The Vice Section arrested a 46- year-old woman for "Communication for the Purpose of Prostitution" at the intersection of Windmill and Albro Lake Road in Dartmouth. The woman was released on conditions.


chain lake drive September 25, 2007 07-145533 - Injury Accident - At 8:31 a.m., a two vehicle accident occurred on Chain Lake Drive in the Bayers Lake Industrial Park. The driver of one of the vehicles was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.


September 17, 2007 07-141045 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 12:34 p.m., a vehicle stopped at the crosswalk at the intersection of Victoria and Albro Lake Roads in Dartmouth was struck in the rear by an another vehicle. One person was transported to Dartmouth General hospital with non - life threatening injuries.

albro lake road August 28, 2007 07-129096 - Robbery - A man in his forties was walking on Albro Lake Road at 4:30 a.m. when he was approached by a group of about 5 males, one of whom struck him on the head, knocking him to the ground. Other members of the group further assaulted the male, and went through his pockets, removing personal items before fleeing. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life threatening. The suspects were described as black males in their late teens, wearing dark baggy clothes, with the exception of the one who originally struck the victim, who was wearing a white hoody.

100 albro lake road August 17, 2007 07-123929 - Arson - A laudry room was set on fire in an apartment building in the 100 block of Albro Lake Road, in Dartmouth.


lakecrest drive August 15, 2007 07-121658 - Weapons - At 1:29 p.m.
police received a call concerning a man with a handgun at the Four Seasons Hotel on Lakecrest Drive in Dartmouth. Upon arrival, a man and woman leaving the room where the handgun had been seen were arrested by police. The man indicated he had a toy gun in the room and allowed police to check for this gun. The gun was located and was found to be a toy. The gun was painted black to make it look like a real handgun. The woman, who was pregnant, was seen by E.H.S. as a precautionary measure. She was released at the scene. The man was taken into custody for questioning about the toy weapon. The matter remains under investigation.

kearney lake road & WEDGEWOOD Avenue August 7, 2007 07-117390 - Road Closure - Kearney Lake at Donaldson and Wedgewood Avenues - At 12:17 a.m., the Halifax Regional Water Commission staff requested police assistance to block off the Donaldson and Wedgewood Avenue intersections of Kearney Lake Road. A four foot water supply pipe burst causing a large opening and scattered debris across Kearney Lake Road. Various sections of the road are impassable and have been barricaded. Police request the public to use caution and seek alternate routes to avoid delays.


chain lake drive July 27, 2007 07-110543 - Industrial Accident - At approximately 8:30 a.m., an employee at the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission on Chain Lake Drive in Halifax received an injury to his leg after coming into contact with a forklift. The victim was treated at hospital for non life threatening injuries. The Department of Labour is investigating.

100 kearney lake road July 26, 2007 07-110327 - Robbery - At 9:30 p.m., a man and two friends were walking through a parking lot in the 100 block of Kearney Lake Road, Halifax. They were confronted by two men who threatened to beat them up. The suspects searched the victims' pockets and took some cash. The victims did not know the suspects. The suspects were described as white males, approximatly 18-years-old, 6 feet tall, between 150-170 lbs. The matter remains under investigation.

albro lake road July 25, 2007 07-109183 - Prostitution - At 6:20 a.m., members of the Vice Unit arrested a 28-year-old Dartmouth woman on Albro Lake Road for 'Communicating for the Purpose of Prostitution'. The woman is scheduled to answer to the charge in court at a later date.
