November 19, 2011 11-176564 - Robbery - At 7:35 p.m., police responded to a report of a robbery at the Tanjay and Alia clothing store, 90 Hector Gate in Dartmouth Crossing. Staff reported that a male entered the store, displayed a firearm and demanded money. The suspect fled the store after being given an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured during the incident. The suspect was described as a white male, 5'7"-5'9", medium build, dark hair, wearing a dark coloured zipped hoodie and a dark bandana over his face. The HRP and RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section is investigating the incident.


October 9, 2011 11-154609 - Assault with a Weapon - At 7:15 p.m., police responded to a call of a disturbance on a Metro Transit bus in Dartmouth Crossing. At this time, it appears that two groups were engaged in a disturbance prior to boarding the bus. The disturbance continued on the bus, resulting in a 35-year-old man being assaulted by two male youths. The man sustained a cut to his face and was treated at the scene by EHS. A knife was recovered at the scene. Two male youths were arrested and will appear in court at a later date to face charges of assault with a weapon, theft and breaching a court order.


September 11, 2011 11-138834 - Weapons - Approximately 10:55 p.m., police conducted a traffice stop in the 0-100 block in Dartmouth. A short time later in the same area, it was reported, a window of a house was shot out. Several units responded as well as K9. A track was started and members located and seized a firearm in one of the many paths in the area. Two males from the original traffic stop were taken into custody and the vehicle was seized. Two additional males were taken into custody close to the area. Members of the General Investigation Section and Forensic Identification section attended the scene. Three adult males and one young offender were questioned in relation to the incident.


August 20, 2011 11-126039 - Fatal Pedestrian and Motor Vehicle Accident - At 2:57 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 111, eastbound towards Burnside Drive, near Ramp 113A in Dartmouth. A male pedestrian was in the middle of the highway when he was struck by a vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The matter remains under investigation by the Accident Investigation Team and Forensic Identification Section. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased.


July 11, 2011 11-102644 - Weapons - At approximately 6:30 p.m., the Halifax Regional Police Quick Response Unit conducted a vehicle stop in Dartmouth and as a result, seized a sawed off shotgun from the vehicle. Two men were taken into custody and held for court to face charges of possession of a weapon, possession of stolen property and breach of court orders.


June 21, 2011 11-90716 - Drug Charges - At approximately 5:30 p.m., the HRP and RCMP Integrated Drug Unit completed a traffic stop on Pleasant and New Castle Streets in Dartmouth and seized a quantity of cash and a large quantity of what is believed to be marijuana and hashish. As a result, a 26-year-old man from Halifax and a 39-year-old man from Windsor, Nova Scotia, were arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. Both accused parties will appear in Dartmouth Provincial court tomorrow morning.


May 21, 2011 11-72144 - Weapons - At 2:40 a.m., police responded to a weapons call at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Information was received a 27-year-old male victim was transported to the QE2 and was being treated for a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The incident is being investigated by the integrated HRP and RCMP GIS.


March 27, 2011 11-43538/43540/43583 - Sexual Assault -At approximately 7:30 a.m., police responded to three separate incidents of females being sexually assaulted in downtown Dartmouth. All of the victims either walking or running in the downtown area. The man approached the women individually and touched them in a sexual manner. A 22-year-old man was arrested a short time later. He will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Monday.


February 12, 2011 11-22279 - Robbery - At 9:15 p.m., Halifax Regional Police received a call a male had been assaulted in the 100 Block of Shubie Drive in Dartmouth. The male victim was attacked from behind by two males and assaulted. The suspects fled the area with the victims glasses and was apprehended a short distance away. A 19-year-old Indian Brook male will appear in Halifax Provincial court on Monday facing robbery charges and a 17-year-old Millbrook male will appear in Halifax Youth court at a later date. The victim was not injured during the altercation and did not require medical assistance.




January 10, 2011 11-5187 - Robbery - Approximately 2:43 p.m., a male was walking in the area of Dartmouth High School in Dartmouth, when he was approached by another male who demanded his Ipod and threatened to have a weapon. The suspect fled the area on foot. Upon police arrival, the area was checked with negative results. The suspect was described as a black male 18-20-years-old, 6’tall, average build, wearing a black ball cap with a black hoodie and jeans. The matter remains under investigation.




December 20, 2010 10-192749 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 1:31 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on the Dartmouth side of the MacKay Bridge. Upon arrival, officers found a damaged pickup truck and noted extensive damage to two toll booths. The 52-year-old male driver was removed from the vehicle by EHS and Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency personnel and transported to the hospital with what is believed to be life threatening injuries. The Accident Investigation Unit and Forensic Identification Sectio officers were called to the scene to assist with the investigation. The matter remains under investigation.


August 18, 2010 10-123161 - Robbery - At 7:50 p.m.,
three occupants of a vehicle parked in a lot near Jackson and Victoria Roads in Dartmouth were approached by two suspects on foot displaying knives. One of the suspects was observed to have a hand gun tucked in the waist of his pants. The suspects robbed one of the occupants of a small quantity of cash and slashed the tires of the vehicle before leaving the area on foot. The victims were not injured during the incident and were uncooperative with police in relation to providing statements. The first suspect was described as a white man, 19-20-year-old, with a freckled complexion and shaved red hair, and wearing a blue mesh jersey with red numbers and blue jeans. The second suspect was described as a white man, 19-20-year-old, with shaved dark hair, and wearing a light blue dress shirt with a white tank-top underneath and blue jeans. The matter remains under investigation.


dartmouth road & BEDFORD Highway June 28, 2010 10-92120 - Waste Oil Spill - At approximately 10 a.m., police responded to a waste oil spill from an insecure cap on a hauling truck driving on the Dartmouth Road in Bedford. The spill occured along the Bedford Highway and into the Sackville River. Environmental agencies were called to investigate. Police assisted where necessary to support the clean up.


April 13, 2010 10-51795 - Shooting - At 11:45 p.m., Police were called to the Dartmouth General Hospital in report of a 22-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to his foot. The victim was uncooperative with police and would not provide any details about the incident. At this time, it is non known where the incident may have taken place. The General Investigation Section is investigating the shooting.






February 16, 2010 10-23254 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 1:24 a.m., a two vehicle accident occurred on the Highway 111 4A ramp in Dartmouth. One person was transported to the Dartmouth General Hospital with non life threatening injuries.


January 25, 2010 10-12723 - Shoplifter - At 7:30 p.m., a security officer at Walmart, 90 Lamont Terrace, Dartmouth, attempted to apprehend a male shoplifter outside the store. The man and his friend resisted arrest and one attempted to pepper spray the security officer. The two suspects fled on foot. Both were described as white men, approximately 25-years-old. One had a thin build and a shaved head, and the other had a thin goatee.


January 17, 2010 10-8876 - Robbery - At approximately 9:30 p.m., a 23-year-old female, waiting for a bus in the area of Windmill and Albro Lake Roads in Dartmouth, had her purse grabbed by a male with a handgun. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim was not injured during the incident. The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 17-23-years-old, 5'9" tall, skinny build, blonde hair with scruffy facial hair and gap between his front teeth. He was wearing a black hoodie, a black knit toque, dark coloured jeans and bright white Nike sneakers. The matter remains under investigation.


November 8, 2009 09-165016 - Motor Vehicle and Pedestrian Accident - At 6:30 p.m. police responded to a report of an accident between a Metro Transit bus and pedestrian at intersection of Albro Lake and Victoria Roads in Dartmouth. A 50-year-old man was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries. Traffic was rerouted for 1 hour. The matter remains under investigation.


June 9, 2009 09-82488 - Weapons - At 9:10 p.m. a traffic stop was conducted on Highway 118 between exits 13 and 14 by members of the Halifax Regional Police Quick Response Unit working in Dartmouth. Four men were taken into custody with officers seizing pepper spray and a collapsible baton. All four men face weapons charges for possession of the pepper spray. Two 25-year-old men and a 27-year-old man will make initial appearances in Dartmouth Provincial Court in early August. A 27-year-old man remains in custody and faces additional charges of breaching recognizance orders upon his appearance at Dartmouth Provincial Court on Wednesday.


March 17, 2009 09-38212 - Robbery - At 7:56 p.m. a male and a female were approached by three suspects in the rear parking lot of Penhorn Mall in Dartmouth. The male victim was stabbed in the back and the female was sprayed with a pepper spray. The male victim was transported to the QE2 with non life threatening injuries. The first suspect was described as a white man, 22-23-years-old, wearing a brown suede jacket. The second suspect was described as a white male, 18-19-years-old and wearing a white ball cap. The third suspect was described as a white male, 18-19-years old. One of the suspects is known to the victim. This was not a random act.


February 23, 2009 09-26987 - Robbery - At 12:15 a.m. a man was walking in the area of a service station near Victoria and Albro Lakes Roads in Dartmouth when he was approached by three men. The suspects pushed the victim to the ground and took his personal property before fleeing the area. The victim received minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment and later released. The suspects were described as black males, approximately 25-years-old, wearing dark clothing. The incident remains under investigation.


February 8, 2009 09-19989 - Stolen Vehicle - At approximately 9:50 p.m. patrol members observed a vehicle in the Montebello area of Dartmouth that had been reported stolen in New Brunswick. The units attempted a traffic stop at which time the male driver fled on foot. An adult female passenger was taken into custody without incident. The male driver was subsequently tracked by K-9 and located hiding in a nearby yard. Both parties, aged 26, will appear in court this morning on two counts each of possession of stolen property. The woman faces additional charges of possession of a prohibited weapon, breach of probation and breaching a previous prohibition order not to possess weapons.


February 5, 2009 09-17693 - Bear Spray - At 2:32 p.m. the police were called to Prince Albert School in Dartmouth in response to a complaint of several students being bear sprayed. The suspect in this matter was last seen leaving the school. At this time, it is believed that the suspect is known to the victims. Police are still seeking the suspect.


February 2, 2009 09-16681 - Weapon - At 1:28 p.m. a man pulled a knife on another man who was shoveling his driveway in the area of Albro Lake and Wyse Roads in Dartmouth. The victim in this incident was not injured. The suspect was arrested and the matter remains under investigation.


December 21, 2008 08-189070/189137 - Drugs - Just before 7:30 p.m. police responded to an unknown trouble call in the 100 block of Avenue Du Portage in Dartmouth. A man called stating he was having trouble with people in his home and that one may have a weapon. Arriving officers found no weapon but located a quantity of narcotics in the home. A warrant was obtained and a subsequent search resulted in the seizure of a large amount of cash and drugs. A 24-year-old man was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and breach of Probation. He will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court later today.


November 20, 2008 08-172421 - Robbery - A 21-year-old man reports he was walking in the area of Bedford Highway and Dartmouth Road at approximately 1 a.m. when he was approached by a dark coloured 4 door car. The passenger, who was armed with a metal pipe, got out of the vehicle and threatened the victim demanding he turn over all his valuables. The victim complied and was punched in the face before the suspect fled. The suspect is described as a white male, 5'10" wearing a grey jacket. The investigation is ongoing. The victim received a small cut to his lip, but did not require medical assistance. GIS is investigating.


September 13, 2008 08-136952 - Robbery - At 7:53 p.m. a 17-year-old female was walking past Prince Albert Junior High in Dartmouth when another female approached her and demanded that the victim turn over her purse or she would be assaulted. The victim complied. This is not a random act as the suspect is known to the victim.


July 21, 2008 08-106890 - Weapons - At approximately 1:55 a.m. police responded to a possible weapons call involving the use of a firearm in Dartmouth. Indications were that a 24-year-old man had been injured as a result of a firearm discharge. The victim was located and found to be suffering from minor injuries to his foot. The matter is still under investigation.



July 4, 2008 08-97159 - Robbery - At 2:35 p.m. police responded to a report of a robbery at the New Penny, Woodlawn Mall, Dartmouth. Two black males, one carrying a sawed-off shotgun, entered the store and demanded a tray of rings. The suspects fled the store after receiving the rings. The store clerk suffered a minor injury to his hand trying to defend himself when suspect carrying the shotgun hit him with the butt of the weapon. The matter remains under investigation.


April 23, 2008 08-58569 - Robbery - At 10:30 p.m. a man walking through a pathway behind John Martin School in Dartmouth was approached by group of ten males and told to turn over his money. The suspects obtained a sum of money and left the area on foot. The victim was not injured in this incident. No suspect descriptions are available.


February 23, 2008 08-26590 - Suspicious Vehicle - At 3:00 p.m., two 12-year-old girls were walking in the area of Irvin Cross, Dartmouth when they were approached by two males in a maroon van. The occupants of the van said something unintelligible to the girls, after which the passenger exited the vehicle. The girls ran to a neighbour's house for assistance. The driver was described as a white male, 16-18-years-old, wearing a "Dead Kennedy’s" t-shirt. The passenger was described as a white male, 16-18-years-old, with straight brown hair, and wearing a black jacket. The vehicle was described as an older style van, maroon with tinted windows. The investigating officer does not believe this was an attempted abduction.


February 19, 2008 08-25068 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident At approximately 4:10 p.m., police responded to a four car accident on the Dartmouth side of the MacKay bridge. The matter remains under investigation.


February 18, 2008 08-24479 - Impaired Driving and Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 1:40 p.m., police responded to a three vehicle accident on the Dartmouth side of the MacDonald bridge. A Dartmouth bound vehicle veered over the centre line and struck a vehicle that was heading to Halifax. The Dartmouth bound vehicle continued on and struck another car before stopping. The driver of the first impacted vehicle received non life threatening injuries. The occupants of the second impacted vehicle were not injured. The male driver of the Dartmouth bound vehicle was arrested for impaired driving and will appear in court at a later date. He also had minor injuries but did not wish treatment.


January 22, 2008 08-11378 - Robbery - At 12:20 p.m., a 15-year-old male was assaulted and robbed of his IPod near Ellenvale Junior High, Dartmouth, by three male youths known to the victim. The victim did not require medical attention. The matter remains under investigation.



January 16, 2008 08-8013 - Robbery - At 9:10 p.m., two young males were walking in the area of Caledonia Junior High School in Dartmouth, when they were approached by two older males. The older males told the boys to empty their pockets and then they began to assault the boys. The suspects ran off after the assault. The victims made their home and called the police. The boys received minor injuries. Suspects #1 was described as a 20-year-old black man, 5'5" tall, stocky build, with slight acne on his face and a small amount of chin hair, and wearing a black outfit and a touque. Suspect #2 was described as a 17 to 19-year-old black male with a large chin and bushy eyebrows, wearing a black and red jacket and a touque. The matter remains under investigation.


dartmouth road October 21, 2007 07-160867 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 4:00 p.m., a driver travelling westbound on Dartmouth Road in Bedford lost control of his car, resulting in the vehicle crossing the two east bound lanes, mounting the curb and coming to rest on the front lawn of 75 Dartmouth Road. The driver and the female passenger in the rear of the vehicle were transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. The male passenger in the front of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.

Update - The Halifax Regional Police Accident Investigation Unit concluded its investigation on November 15. It was determined mechanical (brake) failure led to the crash. There will be no charges.


October 18, 2007 07-159363 - Break and Enter - At 9:40 p.m., a female youth activated the intrusion alarm of the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission outlet store in Alderney Landing, Dartmouth, while attempting to smash the front entrance door with a rock. The suspect fled but was apprehended by police. A 15-year-old girl is being held for a Monday appearance in Youth Court to be arraigned on "Attempted Break and Enter" charges.


October 18, 2007 07-158318 - Motor Vehicle and Bicycle Accident - At 5:14 a.m. a female in her twenties was struck by a vehicle while driving her bicycle in the area of the MacDonald Bridge Deck in Dartmouth. The driver of the bicycle was taken to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. The matter remains under investigation.

September 17, 2007 07-141045 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 12:34 p.m., a vehicle stopped at the crosswalk at the intersection of Victoria and Albro Lake Roads in Dartmouth was struck in the rear by an another vehicle. One person was transported to Dartmouth General hospital with non - life threatening injuries.

September 13, 2007 07-138571 - Industrial Accident - At 8:19 a.m., a carpenter's assistant fell through an opening of the roof onto a concrete landing at a construction on Gale Terrace in Dartmouth. It appears the man fell approximately 15 to 18 feet. The victim was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries. The Nova Scotia Department of Enironment and Labour is investigating the accident.

dartmouth August 1, 2007 07-113855 - Missing Child - At approximately 9:40 p.m., Police received a report of a missing 13-year-old child in the area of Princess Margaret Blvd. in Dartmouth. Halifax Search and Rescue were notified and attended to assist police in a search for the child. The child, who was missing for about three hours, was found by the Ground Search and Rescue dog in a wooded area near her residence. The missing child was returned to her home unharmed. This was an excellent job by all concerned from Halifax Ground Search and Rescue.


July 18, 2007 07-106272 - Robbery - At 6 p.m. a 15-year-old female states she was walking along a path between Penhorn Lake and Highway 111 (Dartmouth) when she was approached by a group of five other females, who knocked her to the ground, assaulted her, and stole her rings from her fingers. The suspects were described by the victim as black females, 16-18-years-old, with braided hair, wearing baggy jeans with red bandanas in their rear pockets. The victim did not require medical attention.



dartmouth road & BEDFORD Highway May 16, 2007 07-70180 - Break and Enter - Patrol Officers were approached on Bedford Highway near Dartmouth Road by a male at 9 p.m. indicating he had observed a female acting in a suspicious manner on a sail boat on Waterfront Drive. The officers obtained a detailed description of the female and at virtually the same time, the boat's owner was contacting police to report his vessel had been broken into. At approximately 9:40 the officers observed a female matching the suspect's description walking on Bedford Highway at the Sackville River Bridge. The 42-year-old was taken into custody and as a result of investigation, was charged with Break and Enter.



DEVONSHIRE avenue & dartmouth avenue November 12, 2006 06-153697 Robbery Devonshire Avenue at Dartmouth Avenue, Halifax. Between 2 and 3 p.m. a male was approached by another male who assaulted him, and told him to empty his pockets. The suspect, who made off with personal belongings of the victim, was described as a black male about 20-years-old wearing a white hoody.

March 23, 2006 06-33282 Motor Vehicle Collision 1:55 p.m. Dartmouth Road at Bedford Highway. A two vehicle head on collision occurred. One adult male was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

February 28, 2006 06-23628 Theft from Vehicles and Arrest 3:30 a.m. Farthington Place, Dartmouth. A resident of an apartment building observed a male breaking into vehicles , the parking lot. Police were called and arrived at the scene quickly and the male was arrested. The 26 year-old will appear , court today answering to Theft, and Breach of Court Order charges.

February 11, 2006 06-17550 Robbery 2:00 p.m. Dartmouth Sportsplex Bus Stop. A female victim was approached by two black females, 16 - 18 years old. One female grabbed the victim , a choke hold and the second took her purse, removed the cigarettes, and then took the victim’s jewellery. The suspects then left on foot. The victim was not injured , this incident.





January 23, 2005 3054 Injury Accident at Dartmouth Road and Ridgevale Drive. At 8:10 p.m. a motor vehicle accident occurred at Dartmouth Road and Ridgevale Drive. Two vehicles struck head-on and one person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.


June 19, 2004 26886 Robbery, Dartmouth Road at Bedford Hwy - At 6:10 p.m. a male teen was approached by two other males. One male asked the victim for a lighter and when told he did not have one the suspect reached , his pocket and removed his wallet. The suspect stole a sum of money from the wallet and they left the area after threatening the victim not to call police. The victim was not injured during the robbery. Suspects are described as both around 17 or 18 years of age. One with short brown hair, stubble on chin approx’ 6'1" - 6'2". The second suspect is a little shorter approx’ 160 lbs wearing a white ball cap, white t-shirt and jeans. The matter is still under investigation.

A deer was struck by a vehicle , the area of Spring Garden Road. The deer received minor injuries and made its way to Citadel Hill where it was tranqualized by members of Lands and Forest. The deer was taken away and will be released , a safe area.






November 25, 2002 48847 - At 250pm there was a robbery at the Bank of Montreal located at 21 Dartmouth Rd , Beford. A lone male entered the bank and passed the teller a note and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect was described as: white male, 6' tall, wearing an black and white hat and a beige corduroy jacket, jeans, and silver trim sunglasses. No weapon seen.


March 30, 2002 12885 - Police responded to an accident on Dartmouth Road at the Bedford Highway at 9:40 p.m. A 46 year-old male was struck by a car while crossing at the crosswalk. He suffered a broken leg. Police are investigating.
August 30, 2001 35966- There was an injury motor vehicle accident at Dartmouth Rd. and Ridgevale at 8:38AM. A van struck a women , a cross walk. The women suffered minor injuries. She was pushing a stroller at the time but managed to push it out of harms way. The driver of the van was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian , a cross walk.
December 5, 2000 49261 - At 7:58PM police responded to a robbery on Dartmouth Road. A young male robbed a woman of her personal belongings as she exited her vehicle. No injuries occurred during the incident. Police continue to investigate.


DUFFUS street & dartmouth avenue September 2, 2000 35132 - At 11 PM a blue Plymouth Minivan ran into a fire hydrant at the intersection of Duffus Street and Dartmouth Avenue , Halifax. When Police arrived the occupants had fled the scene. Investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen , Lower Sackville earlier , the day. It is unknown if the occupants of the vehicle were injured , the crash. The vehicle sustained significant damage as a result of the crash. Police continue to investigate.


July 27, 2000 29023 - Also at 7:30 p.m., a 44 year old male was assaulted by a group of youths outside a Francis Street address , Dartmouth. The victim had confronted the group of youths who had been throwing garbage on his property. The victim was checked at the scene by EMS, and did not require medical attention. No arrests have been made yet.
