BEDFORD highway & moirs mill road August 13, 2010 10-120251 - Drug Trafficking - At 9:40 p.m., West Division Community Response Officers conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in the area of the Bedford Highway and Moirs Mill Road. Further investigation by officers resulted in marijuana, scales, cell phones, drug paraphernalia and cash being seized from the vehicle. Three youth and one adult have been charged with trafficking and will appear in court at a later date.


dartmouth road & BEDFORD Highway June 28, 2010 10-92120 - Waste Oil Spill - At approximately 10 a.m., police responded to a waste oil spill from an insecure cap on a hauling truck driving on the Dartmouth Road in Bedford. The spill occured along the Bedford Highway and into the Sackville River. Environmental agencies were called to investigate. Police assisted where necessary to support the clean up.


bedford highway & MEADOWBROOK Drive May 16, 2010 10-68126 - Motor Vehicle Accident - At approximately 12:40 a.m., near Meadowbrook Drive in Bedford. A vehicle was observed by police travelilng at a high rate of speed, when it left the road smashing into a fence and a deck near the 1200 block of the Bedford Highway. One adult male driver, was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries and will be charged with dangerous driving.


bedford highway April 24, 2010 10-57561 - Drugs - At 11:45 p.m., police conducted a vehicle stop on Bedford Highway near Sullivan's Hill in Bedford, which resulted in the discovery of a small quantity of marijuana. Four adult males, 18, 20 and 21-years of age, were charged with possession of marijuana and released to appear in court at a later date. A 17-year-old male was held in custody and will appear in youth court on possession of marijuana and breach of probation charges.


bedford highway January 4, 2010 10-1875/2167 - Impaired Driving - At 8:40 a.m., a 50-year-old woman was arrested and charged for impaired driving and released. At 6:48 p.m., police were alerted to a possible impaired driver on the Bedford Highway. Upon stopping the driver, she was found to be the same person charged earlier in the day. The accused was charged with refusing the breath test and held for court tomorrow morning.


MEADOWBROOK drive & bedford highway December 22, 2009 09-188537 - Motor Vehicle and Pedestrian Accident - At 5:50 p.m. police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of the Bedford Highway and Meadowbrook Drive. A 58-year- old women was struck by a vehicle while crossing Meadowbrook Drive in a crosswalk. She was taken to the hospital with what are believed to be non life threatening injuries. At this time no charges have been laid and the matter remains under investigation.


bedford highway December 14, 2009 09-184766 - Assault Police Officer - At approximately 6:15 p.m., police arrested a 31- year-old man for shoplifting, possession of illegal drugs and outstanding warrants. En-route to the police station, the man appeared to have swallowed an unknown substance. The officer pulled the police car to a vacant lot to check the status of the man. The man forced his way out of the police car by striking the officer in the head with a blunt object. The officer attempted to gain control of the man who was attempting to escape. In the struggle both the officer and suspect ended up on the Bedford Highway facing oncoming traffic. The suspect was controlled and handcuffed by the officer. Both the suspect and the police officer suffered injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. The injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. The Integrated General Investigation Section are investigating the incident at this time.


1505 bedford highway October 7, 2009 09-149276 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 1:05 p.m., a four vehicle accident occurred near the area of 1505 Bedford Highway this location when three vehicles stopped in line and a fourth vehicle rear-ended the third, causing a chain reaction. One man was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.


1475 bedford highway October 6, 2009 09-148547 - Drugs - Police noticed four people with 2 vehicles acting suspiciously in the parking lot of 1475 Bedford Highway shortly after 1 a.m. A subsequent search of the vehicles turned up drugs, cash and drug paraphernalia. A 19-year-old man faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, while a 21-year-old man was charged with possession. Both were released to appear in court at a later date. The two other parties were released without charges.


BEDFORD highway & hammonds plains road September 22, 2009 09-141137 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 3:29 p.m. a two vehicle accident occured at the intersection of the Bedford Highway and Hammonds Plains Road. A 38-year-old woman was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.


304 bedford highway August 23, 2009 09-124770 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 6:30 p.m. police responded to a head on collision in the area of 304 Bedford Highway. A mid-size car had crossed the centre line and hit a mini van. The driver of the car as well as four occupants of the van were transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. The matter remains under investigation.


July 28, 2009 09-110044 - Pedestrian and Motor Vehicle Accident - A man attempted to cross the Bedford Highway near the Windsor Street intersection and was struck by a vehicle travelling in bound. The man was transported to the hospital with undetermined head injuries, which at this time appear to be minor. The pedestrian was issued a Summary Offence ticket for not crossing in a crosswalk.


1475 bedford highway June 27, 2009 09-92237 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 2:27 p.m. a two vehicle accident occurred in the area of 1475 Bedford Highway. One person was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.


930 bedford highway June 1, 2009 09-78502 - Stabbing - At 9:36 p.m. police responded to a report of a stabbing at a coffee shop at 930 Bedford Highway. Upon arrival officers found a 20-year-old man lying on the floor suffering from a stab wound. The victim was transported to the hospital in serious condition. The preliminary investigation indicated the victim was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot of the coffee shop. A group of males drove into the lot and one of the occupants began to have a staring contest with the victim. The suspect then left his vehicle and went toward the victim's vehicle. Before the victim had a chance to move the suspect stabbed him while he was still seated in his vehicle. The suspect then left the scene with his friends. As of 3:00 a.m. on
961 bedford highway May 3, 2009 09-62877 - Robbery - At 12:40 a.m. a man was robbed while in the area of 961 Bedford Highway. Two suspects approached the victim, demanding money and personal items. They assaulted the victim and fled the scene. The victim was not injured during the incident. The two suspects were taken into custody a short distance away and will appear in court this morning.


April 26, 2009 09-59071 - Robbery - At approximately 12:03 a.m. two men entered a business in the 1600 block of the Bedford Highway. The men stated they had a weapon and demanded cash. The store clerk complied and the two men fled the area on foot. A K-9 unit tracked the men to an address on Birch Street where they were taken into custody without incident. The money taken in the robbery was recovered, but no weapon was located. The two men will appear in provincial court today to face charges of robbery and wearing a disguise while committing an offence.


bedford highway April 12, 2009 09-51942 - Attempted Break and Enter - HRP West Division Patrol members responded to a residence on Lookoff Lane just before 11 p.m. where the homeowners reported someone had just smashed a basement window out of the home, apparently in an effort to break in. It appeared the individual had been scared off by the alarm, which was set off. As a result of quick response by Patrol members and an HRP K-9 unit, a suspect was taken into custody shortly afterwards on foot on the Bedford Highway. As a result of investigation, the 43-year-old man was charged with breaking and entering. He was scheduled to appear in court today.


1762 bedford highway March 25, 2009 09-42771 Robbery - At approx. 11:10 p.m. a male entered Arbys Restaurant at 1762 Bedford Highway after closing and forced staff to the ground. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is described as possibly white, wearing a heavy black winter jacket with the hood up with fur around the hood, and wearing a black mask. He was possible carrying a silver gun. There were no shots fired and no injuries.

The matter is still under investigation.



1658 bedford highway January 16, 2009 09-7874 - At 11:19 a.m. this morning a 29- year-old man entered the Scotia Bank, 1658 Bedford Highway, jumped over the counter and attempted to take money from the cash drawers. After being told to leave, he fled to the parking lot where he attempted to force a male out of vehicle. The suspect was unsuccessful and fled into the wooded area behind the mall. Patrol members with the assistance of K9 conducted a 2 hour track, eventually coming out in the area of Smith's Road, Bedford. There, officers learned that the suspect had taken a taxi to an address in the 300 block of Lucasville Road. Police attended the address and located the suspect inside the residence. He was arrested without incident and is currently being held on charges of attempted theft in relation to the incident at the Scotia Bank, attempted robbery relative to the vehicle and break and enter. No one was injured in any of the incidents.


bedford highway January 8, 2009 09-3811 - Weapons - At 3:30 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of the Bedford Highway on a suspicious vehicle with two male occupants. The passenger bolted from the vehicle and the officer pursued him on foot. The officer received a minor injury during the foot chase but was able to apprehended the 29-year-old suspect, who was carrying bear spray. It was determined he had passenger had several outstanding warrants. The two men will be held for Court in the morning. One man is facing charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and warrants. He received minor injuries during apprehension which are being treated at QEII. The second man is facing charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of a Court Order.


bedford highway January 2, 2009 09-1165 - Pursuit - At 1:30 p.m. West Division officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of the 600 block of the Bedford Highway as a passenger in the vehicle was wanted for an outstanding file. The driver failed to stop for police and continued driving for a short distance, until the passenger fled the vehicle and ran towards the railway. He was pursued on foot until he was located back on the Bedford Highway and arrested. The 23-year-old man is in custody. The driver of the vehicle has not been located. The matter remains under investigation.


BEDFORD highway & rocky lake drive December 11, 2008 08-183332 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 5:48 p.m. a vehicle struck a pedestrian at the intersection of Rocky Lake Drive and the Bedford Highway. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.


December 10, 2008 08-182762 - Disturbance - At 1:00 p.m. police responded to a report of a fight at CP Allen High School in Bedford. Some students got into a fight and a large group of students gathered to watch. Injuries were minor. There may have been some students who left the area that were not students of CP Allen. At this time one youth has been charged. The matter remains under investigation.


November 20, 2008 08-172421 - Robbery - A 21-year-old man reports he was walking in the area of Bedford Highway and Dartmouth Road at approximately 1 a.m. when he was approached by a dark coloured 4 door car. The passenger, who was armed with a metal pipe, got out of the vehicle and threatened the victim demanding he turn over all his valuables. The victim complied and was punched in the face before the suspect fled. The suspect is described as a white male, 5'10" wearing a grey jacket. The investigation is ongoing. The victim received a small cut to his lip, but did not require medical assistance. GIS is investigating.


1475 bedford highway November 7, 2008 08-165895 - Robbery - At 6:0 p.m. police responded to the TD Canada Trust, 1475 Bedford Highway,in relation to a robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned that a man entered the bank and produced a note indicating he was in possession of a firearm and demanding cash. The suspect received a quantity of cash and left the scene on foot. There were no injuries and no weapon was produced or seen. The suspect was described as a white man in his 40's, 180 pounds, 5' 10" tall, wearing a khaki colored suit and tie and a ball cap. The incident continues to be investigated by the General Investigative Section.


1658 bedford highway October 28, 2008 08-160951 - Attempted Theft - At 8:17 a.m. police responded to an attempted theft of cash from the cash register at the Aliant Store, 1658 Bedford Highway. The suspect in this matter, a 40-year-old man, was detained by security. Both he and his accomplice, a 16-year -old female, were arrested by police. Further police investigation revealed that the male suspect was also responsible for 10 other thefts or attempted thefts from business cash registers in the Metro area. The female is facing two counts of attempted theft in relation to this incident and possession of a stolen motor vehicle. The man is faces 12 counts of theft or attempted theft and the possession of the stolen motor vehicle. Both are being held for court in the morning.


bedford highway October 27, 2008 08-160054 - Attempted Theft of Vehicle At 2:00 a.m. police responded to an attempted theft of vehicle on the Bedford Highway. The owner of the vehicle reported that he received a call from his neighbours indicating that they witnessed two unknown males inside his vehicle. Two suspects matching the description were located by police in the 200 block of the Bedford Highway and were arrested. As a result, break tools, bear spray and property stolen from the vehicle were located on one of the males. A 23-year-old man was charged with attempted theft of a vehicle was released to appear in court at a later date. A 22-year- old man was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of stolen property, possession of break tools, attempted theft of a vehicle and breach of probation. He was held in custody and will appear in Halifax court sometime today.


August 28, 2008 08-126900 - Injury Accident - At approximately 2:20 p.m. a female in her late teens was struck by a vehicle while crossing the highway in front of the Sunnyside Mall, Bedford. The victim here received injuries to her neck and extremities which are not believed life threatening. The driver of the vehicle has been charged under the Motor Vehicle Act with Failing to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk.


August 13, 2008 08-119714 - Weapon - Just after 5 p.m., a patron at a retail outlet in Bedford Place Mall was walking down an isle in the store, and as he passed another man, the man waved a knife at him and muttered something he couldn't understand. Upon leaving the store, the patron alerted mall security of what had happened and police were in turn contacted. A 32-year-old man, still in the store, was arrested without incident by responding officers. A knife was recovered and the Sackville man is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow, charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon, and Breaching a Recognizance.


1170 bedford highway August 11, 2008 08-117488 - Robbery - A 16-years-old male young offender is in custody and will be appearing in court Monday morning charged with robbery after an incident in a hotel room at the Maritime Motel, 1170 Bedford Highway, Halifax. The suspect used a knife to rob another person who had visited the location. The parties involved are known to each other and this is not believed to be a random act.


July 28, 2008 08-114174 - Break and Enter - At 4:45 a.m. patrol members observed a truck stopped in the road near the intersection of Mumford Road and Romans Avenue, Halifax. When asked what the two occupants were doing, the officers were advised that the truck was out of gas. The driver asked for help to push the truck off the road. When members looked at the truck, they noted several items that appeared out of place, with brand names from one particular business. A quick check of that business, located in the 700 block of the Bedford Highway, indicated that a break and enter had just occurred. The two occupants were arrested for 'Break and Enter' and 'Possession of Stolen Property.' A 41-year-old man and 22-year-old man will appear in Court on Tuesday morning to face a variety of criminal charges.


1550 bedford highway July 22, 2008 08-107524 - Injury Motor Vehicle and Pedestrian Accident - A 28-year-old woman crossing in a crosswalk at 1550 Bedford Highway received minor injuries when she was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was charged with 'Failing to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Cross Walk.'


200 bedford highway July 14, 2008 08-102991 Robbery - At 10:30 p.m. three masked men with firearms entered an apartment in the 200 block of Bedford Highway and robbed 5 occupants of personal items. The suspects also took two televisions and two cars when they fled. The suspects are described as white males, lanky builds with dark clothing. There were no injuries.

FLAMINGO drive & bedford highway June 21, 2008 08-89434 - Bicycle and Motor Vehicle Accident - Corner of Bedford Highway and Flamingo Drive. At approximately 12:10 p.m. a female cyclist travelling Halifax bound on the Bedford Highway struck a vehicle making a left turn off the Bedford Highway on to Flamingo Drive. The bicycle hit the car causing the driver to hit the pavement. There was heavy damage to the bicycle but no serious injuries to the rider. The matter remains under investigation.


940 bedford highway June 13, 2008 08-81886 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 9:54 a.m. police responded to 940 Bedford Highway in relation to an accident involving a bicycle and a motor vehicle. The bicyclist, who was traveling on the sidewalk, struck a vehicle that was turning into 940 Bedford Highway. The 20-year-old cyclist was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.


BEDFORD highway & moirs mill road June 8, 2008 08-82385 - Injury Accident - At 12:11 p.m. a two vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of the Bedford Highway and Moirs Mill Road. A female driver was transported to the Cobequid Medical Centre with non life threatening injuries.


1441 bedford highway May 4, 2008 08-64521 - Injured Person - At 7:25 p.m. police responded to a call of a female that had been injured with a knife at Fish Hatchery Park, 1441 Bedford Highway. Upon arrival officers located a 14-year-old girl suffering from a wound to her chest area. She was taken to the IWK for treatment to what are currently thought to be a non-life threatening injury. The matter is still under investigation to determine whether this situation constitutes a criminal event.


BEDFORD highway & hammonds plains road April 25, 2008 08-59331 - Cyclist and Motor Vehicle Accident - At 5:30 p.m. members responded to a vehicle and cyclist accident at the intersection of Hammonds Plains Road and the Bedford Highway. The vehicle, a 2004 Sonata, was north bound on the Bedford Highway waiting to turn on to the Hammonds Plains Road. The 20 year old cyclist was coming off the Hammonds Plains Road on to the Bedford Highway. The bike and car collided, sending the cyclist and his bike onto a second car. There were minor injuries and medical treatment declined. No charges have been laid at this time.


500 bedford highway January 16, 2008 08-8610 - Robbery - At approximately 11:40 p.m., a home invasion and robbery occurred at a residence in the 500 block of Bedford Highway, Halifax. Two males entered the residence and assaulted the occupant and a visiting friend. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun. The suspects took a variety of electronic equipment and left the apartment. The resident was taken to hospital with a minor head injury. The matter remains under investigation.


936 bedford highway January 3, 2008 08-1377 - Robbery - At 8:45 p.m., a man entered the Siesta Tan salon at 936 Bedford Highway and demanded cash be placed in a gym bag. The suspect received an undisclosed amount of cash and left on foot. No vehicle was observed. The suspect was described as a young sounding white man, 5'7" tall, small build, wearing an army green puffy coat with the hood up, a black ski mask or something black covering his mouth and a hat. The matter remains under investigation.

We are exploring the possibility that these two robberies are related.


bedford highway October 22, 2007 07-160571 - Robbery - At 6:00 a.m., a man entered the Econolodge on the Bedford Highway and threatened the clerk with a chemical spray. The suspect demanded cash, was given a sum of money and fled on foot. The clerk was not injured during the incident. The suspect was described as a white man, 5'10" tall, medium build, wearing a white zippered sweater, dark toque, and medium dark mask. The matter remains under investigation.

bedford highway October 10, 2007 07-155142 - Robbery - A man entered the rear door of the Bayview Motor Inn on the Bedford Highway and demanded the clerk open the safe. The clerk refused and pushed the suspect away. The suspect then pepper sprayed the clerk. The suspect took a quantity of money from the till and the backroom, and fled the scene on foot. Witnesses observed the suspect outside heading towards the back of the motel. The suspect was described as a white male, medium build and height, wearing a reflective orange and yellow jacket or vest, gloves, and a blue bandana over his face. The clerk received minor cuts after walking through a glass door due to the effects of the pepper spray. The matter remains under investigation.


September 28, 2007 07-146728 - Robbery - At 12:30 p.m., a man exited the Sunnyside Mall in Bedford and was confronted by a man who threatened him and demanded money. The victim handed over a small amount of money. The suspect was described as black male, 20-years-old, approximately 6'1" tall, slim build, scruffy appearance, wearing blue jeans and a black hooded sweater. The victim was not injured during the incident.

September 16, 2007 07-141334 - Robbery -At approximately 12:00 a.m., police responded to a robbery complaint in the 500 block of the Bedford Highway. A man sold his vehicle and was paid in cash by the purchaser. The victim accompanied the buyer outside to where the vehicle was located. After changing license plates, the buyer drove off in the vehicle. When the victim turned to go back into his apartment building, two masked men emerged from a wooded area. One man was carrying a knife. The suspects assaulted the victim and demanded "the money". The victim was taken to his apartment where he gave the cash paid for the vehicle to the suspects. An HRP K9 unit located a vehicle believed to have carried the suspects to the area. The occupants of the vehicle, a man and woman, were arrested and the vehicle was seized by police. Police arrested one of the suspects in Dartmouth. He will appear in Court at a later date.

Update

Members of the Integrated General Investigative Section attended a Maple Street address in Dartmouth at about 5:30 last evening and arrested a 16-year-old male in relation to the above incident. Further, an 18-year-old Dartmouth man attended police headquarters in relation to the matter just after midnight, and was also arrested without incident.

Both are scheduled to appear in court today facing a number of charges in relation to the incident, including "Robbery", "Unlawful Confinement" and "Possession of a Weapon."

These two individuals are allegedly the masked pair who approached and actually robbed the victim as he returned to his apartment.


September 14, 2007 07-140273 - Suspicious Fire - At 8:00 a.m., police responded to a call regarding a boat on fire at the Bedford Yacht Squadron. Halifax Regional Fire Services attended and put out the fire. Fire Services investigators are investigating the cause of the fire.


hammonds plains road & BEDFORD Highway August 15, 2007 07-121905 - Injury Accident - At 7:15 p.m., a motorcycle ran into the side of a van on the Hammonds Plains Road near the Bedford Highway. The 23-year-old female driver of the motorcycle was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. She will be served a ticket for making an illegal passing maneuver on the right side of another vehicle.

June 24, 2007 07-90404 Break and Ener - At 5:15 a.m. RCMP were following a car travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 101 when the car turned on to the Bedford Highway and crashed. A quantity of cigarettes were located in the vehicle. Three adult males were arrested.

bedford highway June 21, 2007 07-89481 Injury Accident - At 3:42 p.m. two drivers were transported to hospital with non life-threatening injuries after a three vehicle accident in the area of exit 3C on Highway 111.

Pornography - As a result of a Police search of an appartment on the Bedford Highway, a 26-year-old male will be charged with possession of child pornography and with making child pornography available for distribution.



dartmouth road & BEDFORD Highway May 16, 2007 07-70180 - Break and Enter - Patrol Officers were approached on Bedford Highway near Dartmouth Road by a male at 9 p.m. indicating he had observed a female acting in a suspicious manner on a sail boat on Waterfront Drive. The officers obtained a detailed description of the female and at virtually the same time, the boat's owner was contacting police to report his vessel had been broken into. At approximately 9:40 the officers observed a female matching the suspect's description walking on Bedford Highway at the Sackville River Bridge. The 42-year-old was taken into custody and as a result of investigation, was charged with Break and Enter.



bedford highway April 25, 2007 07-58559 Police Car Accident - At 10:05 p.m. an officer was conducting a routine traffic stop for a speeding violation. The violator pulled into the Sunnyside Mall parking lot on Bedford Highway to stop for the officer. It appears as though the officer made a slight judgment error and ended up driving past the car he was stopping and drove into the garden located just outside of the Second Cup restaurant.

The officer was not injured and the damage to the mall property and the police car is considered to be minor in nature.

TORRINGTON avenue & bedford highway March 26, 2007 07-43192 Motor Vehicle Collision A two vehicle accident occurred at Torrington Avenue and Bedford Highway at 9:19 p.m. when one vehicle stopped to make a left turn across the Bedford Highway onto Torrington Avenue and the second vehicle ran into it from behind. The male driver of the second vehicle was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A third vehicle observed the accident and stopped, and then a fourth vehicle struck the rear of the third vehicle. The driver of the fourth vehicle was also transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.


bedford highway March 16, 2007 07-37462 Robbery - at 10:10 p.m. a male entered McDonalds restaurant on Bedford Highway, threatened an employee with a knife and demanded cash. Nothing was taken and no one was injured. The suspect is described as a white male, 6', heavy build, wearing a dark winter jacket over a grey hooded sweat top with the hood up, light coloured jogging style baggy pants, white gloves and a white ski mask covering his face.

bedford highway & OAKMOUNT Drive March 14, 2007 07-36360 Motor Vehicle Accident - at 9:21 p.m. a vehicle travelling north on the Bedford Highway collided with a vehicle pulling out of Oakmount Drive in Bedford. Both drivers were treated in hospital for non life-threatening injuries. The incident is under investigation.

bedford highway November 6, 2006 06-150759 Motor Vehicle Collision 10 p.m. A Halifax Regional Police officer was travelling on Bedford Highway in an unmarked car, responding to a call, with his lights and siren activated, when he was involved in a collision with another vehicle. Both vehicles were damaged extensively and the drivers (the only occupants) of both vehicles were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

BEDFORD highway & hammonds plains road August 27, 2006 06-113744 Robbery A male reported that at about 3:20 a.m. he was walking through a parking lot at the intersection of Bedford Highway and Hammonds Plains Road when he was approached by three males, one of whom demanded money from him. He told the male he had no money and the male proceeded to punch him , the face. The three males then ran off. The only description available is that of the male who puched the victim. He is described as white, , his 20's, about 5'10 with shaggy black hair, wearing a black t-shirt with white lettering.

30 bedford highway August 17, 2006 06-108477 Vehicle and Cyclist Collision 5:40 p.m. 30 Bedford Highway, Halifax. A collision occurred involving a car and an adult male cyclist. The cyclist was taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. He was later issued tickets for riding without a helmet, and riding on the sidewalk.

hregion Police is currently on-scene at a double fatality collision on Bedford Highway between the Fairview Overpass and Bayview Road.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., police responded to the collision involving a car and a dump truck. While it is very early , the investigation, it is believed the car travelling outbound crossed the centre line and collided head-on with the in-bound dump truck. A driver and a passenger of the car were pronounced dead at the scene and a third occupant was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

HRP Accident Investigators are on-scene attempting to determine the cause of the collision, and the investigation continues. Traffic is expected to be affected for several hours and motorists are asked to avoid the area. Police thank the motoring public for their co-operation.



BAYVIEW road & bedford highway July 5, 2006 06-84221 Injury Motor Vehicle Accident At 3:22 p.m. a two vehicle collision occurred at Bayview Road and Bedford Highway. A 50-year-old female who was the driver of one of the vehicles suffered a neck injury and was taken to hospital for treatment. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

1658 bedford highway July 4, 2006 06-83651 Car and Pedestrian Collision At 3:40 p.m. a nine-year-old boy riding his bicycle , the mall parking lot at 1658 Bedford Highway was hit by a vehicle. The boy suffered non life threatening injuries.

bedford highway June 6, 2006 06-69488 Motor Vehicle Crash and Stolen Vehicle 10:45 p.m. Bedford Highway at Convoy Run. A call was received of a van having crashed into a pole at this intersection. Upon arrival officers located the van on its side and the driver had fled the scene. The vehicle had been reported stolen on
604 bedford highway May 17, 2006 06-59011 Robbery 3:30 p.m. Nella Fantasia, 604 Bedford Highway. A male entered the store armed with a shotgun. He demanded cash from the clerk and eventually fled with , undisclosed amount of money. The getaway vehicle was described as an older model brown "beater". The suspect was described as a black male , his twenties, 5'8, about 190 lbs, with his face masked. A short time later a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's was spotted by police , the area of the Fairview Cemetery. When police attempted to stop the vehicle the driver abandoned it , the cemetery and fled on foot. A search warrant was later executed , relation to the matter at an address , the 3600 block of Federal Avenue however no arrest has been made to this point. The matter remains under investigation.


1475 bedford highway May 11, 2006 06-56313 Arson 9:30 p.m. TD Canada Trust, 1475 Bedford Highway, Bedford. A small fire was set , the lobby of the building. A carpet was damaged. The matter is under investigation.


1746 bedford highway May 4, 2006 06-52370 Robbery 5:08 p.m. Cotton Patch, 1746 Bedford Highway. Two males entered the business and demanded money from the employee. One suspect showed a firearm. The males received cash and left the store on foot. One suspect was described as a black male , his early twenties, about 5'9 with a pudgy build. He was wearing a black jacket and had a mask over his face. The second suspect was a black male , his late teens, about 5'7 with a medium build, wearing a blue jacket. He was carrying a grey kitbag.

961 bedford highway April 16, 2006 06-44572 Robbery 8:42 p.m. Mill Cove Laundromat, 961 Bedford Highway. A male entered the business, produced a handgun and demanded cash. He was given an amount of money and fled on foot. He is described as a dark skinned white male, 5'7, about 20 years old, 160 lbs, wearing a hoody with red lettering and a camouflage scarf over his face.


300 bedford highway April 15, 2006 06-43582 Motor Vehicle Collision 10:25 a.m. 300 block Bedford Highway. A two vehicle collision occurred at this location. The driver of one vehicle was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

bedford highway March 30, 2006 06-36367 Motorcycle Crash 12:40 p.m. Bedford Highway. A man driving a motorcycle attempted to avoid a collision with a vehicle and he lost control of the bike, crashing. The 30-year-old was transported to QEII Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

March 23, 2006 06-33282 Motor Vehicle Collision 1:55 p.m. Dartmouth Road at Bedford Highway. A two vehicle head on collision occurred. One adult male was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

961 bedford highway March 22, 2006 06-33024 Robbery 7:50 p.m. Mill Cove Laundromat 961 Bedford Highway. Two males entered the business and demanded money from the clerk. The males had hoods up and their faces were covered by scarfs. One of the males lifted his jacket and revealed the butt of a hand gun , his waist band. The clerk handed over a small amount of cash and the males fled the store toward the Bedford Highway.

961 bedford highway March 3, 2006 06-25043 Robbery 1:30 p.m. 961 Bedford Highway. A male entered the Millcove Landromat and passed a note to the clerk demanding cash. The employee put money , a bag and the suspect fled the store. The suspect is described as a white male, 5'8 with a slim build,in his thirties.

February 12, 2006 06-17228 Stolen Vehicle and Charges 1:15 a.m. HRP officers observed a vehicle travelling inbound on the Bedford Highway at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was not pursued due to the speed, however a short time later,officers discovered the same vehicle had crashed into a retaining wall near 3773 Windsor St. The occupants had already fled the scene. A K-9 team attended and after a track, one suspect was taken into custody. The vehicle had recently been stolen. A 19 year old male will be facing charges of possession of stolen property.


BEDFORD highway & kearney lake road February 11, 2006 06-16847 Attempt Abduction 7:00 A.M. A male approached a female that was walking , the area of Bedford Highway and Kearney Lake Road. He confronted her with a knife and attempted to force her to go with him , a vehicle. She resisted and he fled , the vehicle. The victim sustained no injuries. The male is described as appx 25 yrs old, 5'9", medium build, brown goatee, grey eyes. He was wearing a green hooded puffy jacket that went down to his knees. He fled , a newer model 2 door Chevrolet (possibly a ‘Cobalt’ or similar), with a spoiler on the rear. This matter is still under investigation.

bedford highway January 7, 2006 2903-Indecent Act-At 2:30 p.m. Police responded the Bedford Highway , relation to a call of an indecent act which took place on a Metro Transit Bus. A male had exposed himself to another passenger on the bus and as a result, a 54-year-old man will be facing charges for committing an indecent act when he appears , court , February. There were no injuries related to this incident.


bedford highway December 29, 2005 114285-Motor Vehicle Collision-At 5:10 p.m, a 51-year-old female was hit by a vehicle as she croosed the Bedford Highway , a crosswalk. She was treated on scene by EHS and did not go to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian , a crosswalk.

1595 bedford highway November 17, 2005 97665-Motor Vehicle Collision-At 5:45 p.m. a two vehicle collision occured , the area of 1595 Bedford Highway. One of the drivers was transported to the QE2 for treatment of injuries.

bedford hills road October 31, 2005 05-90249 - Robbery - A victim was pushed and relieved of his candy while , the area of Bedford Hills Road at 8:15 p.m. The suspect was described as a white female with curly blonde hair and wearing a red sweater. The suspect left , a black truck with stripes.

bedford highway October 10, 2005 80573-Robbery-At 11:10 p.m. a male entered a motel on the Bedford Highway with a hammer, threatened the clerks and demanded money. He fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect was described as a black male, 5'11"-6', 20-years-old, 200 lbs wearing a grey fleece pull over sweater, a black toque, a blue handkerchief over his face and black jeans. No one was injured , the incident. The area was checked with negative results and the matter is still under investigation.

bedford highway September 11, 2005 69956-Sudden Death At 11:30 p.m. Police responded to the 200 block of the Bedford Highway , relation to a 56-year-old male that fell from his roof. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The matter is under investigation.


rocky lake drive & BEDFORD Highway August 19, 2005 54445- Robbery At 1:00 a.m. a male entered the Petro Canada on the Bedford Highway. The male produced a knife, demanded money and fled the scene on foot towards the area of Rocky Lake Drive with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes. The suspect is described as a white male 5'8,110lbs skinny,tanned,thin facial hair, wearing a dark hoodie with a ballcap up over his face. No one was injured and the matter is under investigation.

480 bedford highway July 29, 2005 43931 Motor Vehicle Crash At 4:05 a.m. a single vehicle overturned near 480 Bedford Highway. A police patrol car that was travelling behind the vehicle attended the scene. There were no injuries and the 32-year-old female driver was taken into custody and charged with impaired driving.

bedford highway June 19, 2005 26193 Motor Vehicle Collision A collision occurred at 7:27 p.m. on Bedford Highway near Mount Saint Vincent University when a car failed to yield the right-of-way and struck a motorcycle, sending a male and female, both 33-years-old, to hospital for medical treatment. The 47-year-old female driver of the vehicle had no injuries and was charged with failing to yield right-of-way.


BAYVIEW drive & bedford highway May 6, 2005 18175- At 1:05 p.m. police responded to a report of a two vehicle accident at Bayview Drive and Bedford Highway. One of the drivers was taken to hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

150 bedford highway February 2, 2005 4361- Industrial Accident at 150 Bedford Highway. At 9:27 a.m. a man suffered leg injuries while taking apart an interior wall. The matter was turned over to the Department of Labour for investigation.

bedford hwy January 20, 2005 2337 Robbery, Ultramar, Bedford Hwy - At 1:55 a.m. two males described as both wearing dark clothing, one with a ski mask over his face and the other with a grey hood over his head and face entered the store. One was belived to be carrying a weapon but it is not known what it was. They threatened the clerks on duty and then put them , the bathroom and barricaded the door. They stole cash and cigarettes. The clerks were able to free themselves quickly and called the police. No one was injured. The area was checked with negative results. The incident is still under investigation.

bedford hwy January 20, 2005 2362 Motor vehicle and pedestrian accident, Bedford Hwy - At 8:35 p.m. a 20-year-old man was struck by a vehicle being driven by a female , her early twenties as he was crossing the street , a crosswalk. The man sustained injuries to his leg and lacerations to his face. He was pulled for about 8-10 feet. He is presently at QE2 hospital receiving medical treatment. The female driver will be charged with failing to yield to pedestrian , a crosswalk and also for failing to have her windows clear of obstruction while driving.

1658 bedford hwy January 7, 2005 922-Robbery at the Scotia Bank, 1658 Bedford Hwy. At 4:36 p.m. a male described as 6' tall, brown hair, wearing white hat entered the bank and passed the teller a note demanding money. No weapon was seen and the man fled the scene on foot. No one was injured and the matter is still under investigation.

bedford hwy December 21, 2004 58022 Robbery, Fabricville, Bedford Hwy - At 8:45 p.m. police responded to Fabricville , relation to an armed robbery. A male entered the store, produced a gun and demanded cash. After receiving a quantity of money the suspect fled on foot. There were no injuries and the suspect is described as a male, 5'8" wearing a black parka, black jeans, navy T-shirt and black work boots. He also had a scarf over his face. The incident is still under investigation.

The suspect fled with a small amount of cash. He is described as male, 6', early 20's, wearing blue jeans and a navy colored nylon jacket. This matter is still under investigation.

shaunslieve & bedford hwy November 18, 2004 52530 Injury motor vehicle accident, Bedford Hwy at Shaunslieve - At 1:15 p.m. a 22- year-old woman was sitting on the bench at the bus stop when a Jeep Cherokee, traveling outbound on the Bedford Hwy, lost the drivers side front wheel. The wheel crossed the road and struck the bench she was sitting on. The wheel also hit her , the hip area. The victim suffered what is believed to be a minor injury however she was taken to the hospital as a pre caution. No charges laid.

bedford highway November 16, 2004 52146 Injury motor vehicle collision, Bedford Highway near MSVU - At 10:00 a.m. a 19-year-old male driver was outbound on Bedford Highway when he lost control and struck a fire hydrant and a power pole. Though the car suffered extensive damage, the drive sustained only minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution. No charges. Exact cause is still under investigation.

bedford hwy October 23, 2004 48535 Robbery, Irving Station, Bedford Hwy - At 10:15 p.m. A lone male entered the business and produced a knife and what appeared to be pepper spray. The suspect demanded cash from the til and was provided same by the victim. He left on foot. Suspect is described as a white male, about 6'3", very thin, crooked teeth, unshaven. He was wearing a black toque, nylon jacket and jeans. There were no injuries and the matter is under investigation.








bedford hwy August 24, 2004 38476 Robbery - Service Station, 1600 Block, Bedford Hwy - At 9:50 p.m. a lone male entered a service station and pointed an object believed to be pepper spray at the clerk. The suspect then took the cash from the till and fled the area on foot. He is described as white male, 18- years-old, 6'. The victim was not injured , this incident.

1611 bedford hwy June 16, 2004 26115 Pedestrian and tractor trailer accident at 1611 Bedford Hwy. - At 3:20 p.m. a 17-year-old female was struck and knocked to the ground but received only minor injuries. The matter is still under investigation.

1160 bedford highway March 20, 2004 11983 Break and Enter, 1160 Bedford Highway - Police responded to a break and enter into two businesses, both located at 1160 Bedford Highway. As a result of the investigation, an adult male was later arrested and charged with two counts of break, enter and theft. He will be making a Court appearance on Monday morning. The investigation remains under investigation.





873 bedford highway December 18, 2003 54401 Robbery reported to police at 4:20 a.m. from 873 Bedford Highway, Pipeline Ultramar.
A male entered and threatened the clerk with a knife. The clerk defended himself with a wrench and apparently scared the suspect off. He was seen fleeing across the Bedford Highway and getting into a small white car. The suspect is described as short , stature, dark complected, approximately 40 years of age, wearing hospital style clothes and was wearing a face mask at the time of the robbery. The suspect did manage to escape with some cash, cigarettes and
numerous lotto tickets. Investigators are working to determine whether these two robberies are connected. There were no injuries sustained , this incident.

560 bedford highway December 8, 2003 52785 An injury accident was reported to police at 07:33 a.m. from the Econo Lodge at 560 Bedford Highway. - A Chrysler Intrepid was observed to be out of control traveling
outbound from Halifax at a high rate of speed when it veered off the road and struck the motel sign. The car essentially disintegrated with
the engine block separating from the car entirely. The driver was extricated from the remains of the vehicle by the fire dept and taken to the QE2 for treatment. The 44-year-old male driver received very minor injuries. No charges are anticipated at this time.

750 bedford highway December 7, 2003 52647 At 3:10 a.m. There was a single car
accident , the area of 750 Bedford Highway. The vehicle travelling toward Bedford lost control and smashed into a power pole. The vehicle
has extensive damage and the driver was treated at the QE II for what appeard to be minor injuries. Poor road conditions (slush) was the major contributing factor for this accident.

300 bedford highway September 27, 2003 41039 Attempted robbery occurred , the 300 block of Bedford Highway at a convenience store at 8:39 p.m. Two suspects entered the store, one carrying a knife and the other armed with a baseball bat. The clerk was struck , the head with the bat, and was taken to hospital and treated for a wound to the head. Suspects fled the scene without taking anything. Incident is under investigation.
