barrington street & ARTZ Street March 18, 2008 08-39956 - Motor Vehicle and Pedestrian Accident - At 3:31 p.m., a 60-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle while crossing in a crosswalk on Barrington Street near Artz Street, Halifax. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. The 40-year-old female driver of the vehicle was issued a Summary Offence ticket for 'Failing to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk.'



barrington & artz street January 9, 2007 07-4506 8:30 a.m. A 15-year-old pedestrian was struck while crossing the intersection at Barrington and Artz Street. The boy was not seriously injured. The driver of the car was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.


The Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture held a protest at Province House from 10 a.m. until roughly 1 p.m. Approximately 250-300 protesters attended, along with livestock. The event was peaceful.

December 11, 2006 06-167984 Robbery 11:50 p.m. Maynard Street at Cornwallis, Halifax. A knife-weilding fare attempted to rob a taxi driver of his cash. A brief struggle took place, and the fare eventually stole the taxi. The cab was involved in a collision on Artz Street a short time later, and the suspect fled the scene on foot. At about 3:45 a.m. A call was received at the railyards off Bedford Highway where a suspicious male had been observed by employees. A track was conducted by an HRP K-9 Unit and as a result, a 20-year-old male was taken into custody. Following investigation, he was charged with the robbery of the taxi driver and a number of other charges in relation to the sequence of events that followed.

Update
ARTZ street & brunswick street July 28, 2006 06-97083 Assault 3 a.m. Artz Street at Brunswick Street, Halifax. A taxi driver had driven three fares to this location. One of the males, described as black, about 17-years-old wearing a long white t-shirt, sprayed the driver , the face with a chemical agent and attempted to pull him from the taxi. The driver was able to defend himself and the three males fled. The description of the other two males is vague.
