prince arthur avenue November 12, 2010 10-173663 - Assault with a Weapon - At 8:15 p.m., an officer was approached on Prince Arthur Avenue in Dartmouth by a man who advised another man had just been stabbed at a nearby residence. A 27-year-old man was found on the front steps of the residence suffering from a stab wound to his neck. He was transported to hospital by EHS where he remains with injuries that are life-threatening. At this time, it appears the incident occurred inside the residence. A man known to the victim was taken into custody overnight. The matter remains under investigation by the HRP and RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit.

prince arthur street & PORTLAND Street May 13, 2010 10-65168 - Man Arrested for Break and Enter - A 36-year-old man was arrested on Prince Arthur Street in Dartmouth for one of the Portland Street Break and Enters.





85 prince arthur avenue November 8, 2009 09-164625 - Break and Enter - At approximately 1 a.m., police responded to an alarm call at Prince Arthur Junior High, 85 Prince Arthur Avenue, Dartmouth. Upon arrival, police noticed a window was smashed out. A short distance away police found two 15-year-old youths attempting to hide from police. A follow up investigation revealed that one of the youth had entered the school and stole a small amount of stationary supplies. The youths were charged with mischief, and break and enter, and released into the custody of a parent.


prince arthur avenue & PORTLAND Street April 24, 2009 09-57590 - Disturbance - At 2:45 p.m. an HRP Community Response Officer dealing with numerous complaints from the community in relation to youth loitering after school on Prince Arthur Avenue, in Dartmouth, was attempting to move some of the youths along when one of them punched him in the head. A subsequent struggle ensued during which the officer used his pepper spray. Eventually the officer was able to gain control and custody of the youth who assaulted him. The 15-year-old will be released from custody, facing charges of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. Aside from EHS attending to flush the boy's eyes of the pepper spray, neither party required medical attention.


GO 09-57727 - Robbery - At 7:15 p.m. a male entered the Moffatt's Pharmacy, 184 Portland Street, Dartmouth, produced a knife and demanded cash. The staff complied and the male left with a small amount of money. No one was injured during the incident. The suspect was described as a male, approximately 17-years-old, wearing a dark blue sweatshirt and a red bandana around his face.


arthur street July 22, 2008 08-107093 - Robbery - Police are investigating a reported robbery of a man on the footpath below Arthur Street in Dartmouth. Just before 2 p.m. the victim states he was approached by two males who jumped him from behind. He was punched, kicked and pushed to the ground. One suspect produced a firearm and demanded money. The victim turned over an undisclosed amount of money and the suspects fled on foot. The victim made his way to the Dartmouth General Hospital where he called police. The victim was treated and released for a minor cut to his face. The suspects are described as white males, one 6' tall and wearing a black sweatshirt, the other 5'5 tall, possibly wearing shorts. The matter remains under investigation.


PORTLAND street & prince arthur avenue February 20, 2008 08-25393 - Pedestrian and Motor Vehicle Accident - At 9:00 a.m., police responded to a car and pedestrian accident at Prince Arthur Avenue and Portland Street, Dartmouth. A 40-year-old woman was attempting to cross Portland Street at Prince Arthur when she was struck by a motorist who was turning right onto Portland Street. The pedestrian suffered minor injuries to her hand and knee, but was not taken to hospital. The 57-year-old female driver of the vehicle was issued a Summary Offence ticket for 'Failing to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk.'


pleasant street & ARTHUR Street November 16, 2007 07-174903 - Stolen Vehicle Pursuit - At 7:00 a.m., police attempted to pull over a stolen vehicle travelling south bound on Highway 111 towards Pleasant Street in Dartmouth. The vehicle refused to pull over. Police continued to pursue the car south bound on Highway 111 for a short distance. The pursuit was terminated as it neared Pleasant Street. Minutes later officers were alerted by a nearby resident to a suspicious vehicle that had been abandoned on Arthur Street. Three suspects were seen fleeing from the car. Officers apprehended one of the suspects, a 20-year-old man, who faces charges of 'Taking a Motor Vehicle Without Owners Consent', 'Breach of Probation' and 'Breach of Recognizance.' He was held in custody and will appear in Dartmouth court Monday morning. The two remaining suspects were not located. The matter remains under investigation.


Parade of Lights - There was a large number of people in the downtown of Halifax for the parade of lights. The event went smoothly with no problems. There were considerable traffic problems as the folks left the downtown, but there were no incidents.



prince arthur avenue & PORTLAND Street September 5, 2007 07-133934 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 12:22 p.m., a 46-year-old woman had her vehicle stopped at a red light at Prince Arthur Avenue in Dartmouth. She attempted to make a right hand turn onto Portland Street and struck a 49-year-old woman in a wheel chair who was crossing in the crosswalk. The victim fell out of her wheelchair and sustained minor injuries. There was minor damage to the wheel chair. The driver of the vehicle has been charged with Failing to Yield to Pedestrian in a Crosswalk contrary to 125 (1)and Failing to Yield to a Pedestrian on Turning at a Red Light contrary to 93(2)(E) of the Motor Vehicle Act.

pleasant & arthur streets March 26, 2007 07-42537 Car and Pedestrian Collision At 5:35 p.m. officers responded to a car and pedestrian collision at Pleasant and Arthur Streets after a 14-year-old girl was struck by an oncoming truck while crossing the street. She was taken to the QEII and later transferred to the IWK with what are described as life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the truck, an 84-year-old man, was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

prince arthur street & PRINCE ARTHUR Drive December 21, 2003 55135 Two persons were treated for minor injuries after a motor vehicle accident occurred on Prince Arthur Street , Dartmouth at approximately 11:45 p.m. The driver of a half-ton truck lost control as she turned onto Prince Arthur Drive and struck an apartment building. Extensive damage to the truck and some damage to the building.
