sackville & argyle streets August 24, 2011 11-128272 - Robbery - At approximately 1:15 a.m., members of the Central Quick Response Unit, who were on patrol in the downtown core of Halifax, observed a robbery occur in the area of Sackville and Argyle Streets. The 54-year-old male victim was assaulted by one of two parties involved in the robbery. The Quick Response Unit intervened in the assault and after a short foot chase, apprehended two male youths, aged 16 and 17. The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by EHS and released. The youths will appear in Halifax Youth Court today to face robbery charges.


argyle street August 15, 2011 11-122882 - Assault with a Weapon - At 3:50 a.m., police responded to a report of men fighting in the area of Blowers and Argyle Street in Halifax. Upon arrival, officers discovered two men who were suffering from injuries - a 22-year-old man had a sprained ankle and a 20-year-old man had a slash wound to his abdomen believed to be caused by a knife. Both were taken to the QEII Hospital. Another three male victims were located at the scene. These three had witnessed the initial incident and attempted to intervene. One of the suspects produced a knife, uttered threats and assaulted two of the men. A 22-year-old Herring Cove man and a 25-year-old Fall River man were arrested at the scene. The 25-year-old, faces several charges including assault with a weapon x 3, assault x 3, uttering death threats x 3 and numerous breachs of court orders. He will appear in Halifax Provincial court later this afternoon. This incident is being investigated by the General Investigative Section. Additional charges may be laid.


sackville street & ARGYLE Street November 15, 2010 10-174813 - Armed Robbery - At 1:25 a.m., police responded to The Pita Pit, 1588 Argyle Street in Halifax. A male entered the store, armed with a knife and demanded cash from the register. The suspect fled on foot after obtaining a quantity of cash and last seen running west on Sackville Street. No one was injured during the incident. The suspect was described as a white male, 58 tall, 160-175 lbs, wearing jeans and black shoes, a light coloured jacket with the hood up and a dark scarf covering his face with sunglasses.


argyle & sackville streets December 6, 2009 09-179409 - Assault Causing Bodily Harm - At 1:43 a.m., police responded to a report of a disturbance at the intersection of Argyle and Sackville Streets in Halifax. Upon arrival, officers found a 21-year-old man suffering from a broken ankle. The suspect is described as a light skinned black male with short hair, 5'8" tall, 160 lbs, slim build. The matter remains under investigation.


1565 argyle street January 12, 2009 09-6056 - Break & Enter - At 11:30 p.m. police were notified by witnesses who saw a male breaking the store glass at Pro Skate Shop, 1565 Argyle Street, Halifax, with the use of a hand tool, enter and than run from the area. Quick Response members located a male a short distance with hand injuries suffered in the glass break. A search of the suspect located several items belonging to the business. An 18-year-old male is currently in custody and will appear in court tomorrow morning to face charges of break and enter and theft and possession of break-in tools.


argyle street December 20, 2008 08-187784 - Disturbance - Police responded to The Dome bar on Argyle Street at approximately 3:20 a.m. in relation to a disturbance that was taking place inside the establishment. A 36-year-old man was assaulted inside the bar by a group of several men. He was punched and kicked several times. Staff intervened and police units removed several parties from the premises. A large crowd had gathered outside the bar but left without further incident upon police arrival. The victim was taken to the hospital for non life threatening injuries. One man was arrested for section 87 of the Liquor Control Act. No arrests were made in relation to the initial assault. The matter remains under investigation.


argyle street July 6, 2008 08-98269 - Drugs - Two adults were charged with 'Possession of Marijuana' after being stopped as part of a routine checkpoint on Argyle Street, Halifax. Just before 11:30 a.m. a black Hyundai approached the checkpoint. The officers noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of marijuana. A 21-year-old woman and 20-year-old man, both from Brookfield, were charged with 'Possession of Marijuana' and released to appear in court at a later date.


argyle street December 24, 2007 07-192776 - Large Disturbance - At 3:40 a.m., police were called to the Liquor Dome on Argyle Street, Halifax, in relation to a large disturbance inside the bar. Officers who entered the bar were assaulted by the crowd inside. Other units attended to assist the officers. The group from inside exited with a number of smaller altercations ensuing. Thirty-eight individuals were arrested and charged with section 87 of the Liquor Control Act, 'Breach of the Peace' and 'Assaulting a Police Officer.'


prince street & ARGYLE Street August 25, 2007 07-127395 - Robbery - At approximately 5:00 a.m., two men in their early 20's were assaulted and robbed of a cell phone on Argyle Street near Prince Street in Halifax. The victims were surrounded by a group of approximately 10 males. No descriptions of the male suspects were available. The victims were not seriously injured. The matter remains under investigation.

argyle & blowers streets July 7, 2007 07-99180 - Robbery With Violence - At approximately 3:00 a.m. a man was assaulted by 2 to 3 men in the area of Argyle and Blowers Streets in Halifax. After being knocked down, the victim was kicked in the head by one of the attackers. The suspects fled the scene after stealing the victim's wallet. One of the suspects is described as a black man in his early 20's, 6' tall, wearing a buttoned up white shirt and denim shorts. The victim sustained minor injuries during the attack. The matter is under investigation.



1600 argyle street May 12, 2007 07-67822 Weapon - At 3:55 a.m. a disurbance was reported in the 1600 block of Argyle Street in Halifax. Winesses indicated one of the suspects involved in the disturbance had a firearm. The suspect was arrested and a loaded hand gun was found in his possession. The suspect faces a number of weapons charges.



argyle st May 3, 2007 07-62625 Disturbance - At 7:07 p.m., officers on duty inside the World Trade and Convention Center were confronted by numerous individuals who indicated they intended to enter the private function and cause a disruption. Officers escorting these individuals out of the building onto Argyle St, encountered a group of approx. 30 protestors outside who joined against the police officers. One individual punched an officer, whereupon a call was made for more officers to attend the scene.

Three persons were arrested and face charges of assaulting police, resisting arrest and causing a disturbance in a public place. Members remained on scene until the event concluded at 10 p.m. to prevent a renewal of the earlier violence.

Injuries to police include cuts, broken fingers and secondary contamination with police deployed pepper spray. One of the officers was required to seek medical attention.

argyle street May 2, 2007 07-62249 Weapons - At 3:36 a.m. a 19-year-old male in Cheer's bar on Argyle Street in Halifax was stabbed. The victim was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Two males in their early 20's are in custody.


1700 argyle street March 12, 2007 07-34881 Weapons - At 2:27 a.m. a number of people outside the 1700 block of Argyle Street were sprayed with a substance believed to be bear spray. The suspect is described as a while male with short hair.

September 2, 2006 06-117108 Assault with a Weapon At approximately 2:45 a.m. a number of people were sprayed with a "mace like" substance by suspects who drove by in a vehicle. This occurred at two locations, Argyle Street and Barrington Street, Halifax. No serious injuries were sustained. The matter is still under investigation.

3:30 a.m. Police responded to reports of a disturbance on Argyle Street. The victim was located outside a nightclub and had suffered injuries to his teeth as a result of an assault.
Police arrested a suspect at the scene, the suspect will be charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm.
1661 argyle street May 22, 2006 06-60777 Assault With a Weapon 3 a.m. 1661 Argyle Street, Halifax. An adult male was on the dance floor at a nightclub when he was struck , the head with a beer bottle. He was transported to the QEII hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The matter remains under investigation and the suspect is described as a white male , his early 20's, 6'5, 200 lbs, balding with circular hair designs above his ears. He was wearing blue jean shorts and a button up shirt with a white t-shirt underneath.

argyle street May 12, 2006 06-55899 Assault with a Weapon 2:45 a.m. A 25-year-old male was charged with Assault with a Weapon and Uttering Threats after an altercation between he and another patron at a lounge on Argyle Street, Halifax. The weapon used was a knife. The victim was a 20-year-old male who received superficial wounds to one of his hands.

1661 argyle street January 27, 2006 06-10552 Assault with a Weapon 1:45 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance at "Rain" Nightclub, 1661 Argyle Street. Two males were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, one of them having suffered lacerations after being assaulted with a broken bottle. Assault charges have been laid against one twenty-five-year-old male, and the investigation into the assault with the bottle continues.

argyle street August 10, 2005 50521 Robbery At 1:20 a.m. 2 white males , their late teens to early twenties entered the Pita Pit on Argyle street claiming to have a knife and demanded money. The suspects removed an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and fled the area on foot. The suspects were described as being 5'9" and skinny. One of the males was wearing a green and burgundy shirt and had long brown hair and the other male was wearing a white t-shirt and had a shaved head with a little dark hair.

1663 argyle st July 7, 2003 27382 Police esponded to a garbage fire at 1663 Argyle St. at 3:50 a.m. Both of these fires appear suspicious , nature.

argyle st August 6, 2001 31995- There was an altercation between two males near the Economy Shoe Shop on Argyle St. It resulted , one male being struck , the head with a beer bottle. He suffered a cut to his head. The victim did not want to lay charges.
argyle st June 2, 2001 22312- A twenty-nine year old Halifax man is dead and a thirty-two year old Dartmouth man remains , hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds to his leg as a result of a double shooting at The Top Corner Club on Argyle St. Two masked suspects entered the bar after 9:15PM and demanded money from staff. Two male customers became involved , a struggle with the armed suspect which resulted , both being shot. Both suspects fled the scene after the shooting. Police continue to investigate.


argyle street February 16, 2001 6887 - At 11:48PM police recovered a stolen vehicle on Argyle Street. Three people were apprehended shortly after the incident by officers and the K9 Unit. Three people are charged with theft.


ARGYLE street & george street October 20, 2000 42051 - At 2:07AM police responded to a single vehicle accident at the intersection of George Street and Argyle Street. The passenger was taken to the QEII with minor injuries. The 21 year-old driver was charged with impaired driving.
