BARRINGTON street & spring garden road October 13, 2011 11-157306 - Pedestrian and Motor Vehicle Collision - At 6:50 p.m., police responded to a report of a pedestrian and motor vehicle collision in the area of Spring Garden Road and Barrington Street in Halifax. An unoccupied vehicle hit a pedestrian who was crossing in the crosswalk, and then stuck a light pole. The vehicle suffered severe front end damage. The owner of the vehicle was located and it was learned that the vehicle had been left in gear and rolled from its location. The pedestrian was not injured and the owner recovered his vehicle.


lake & grosvenor road September 18, 2011 11-142882 - Vehicle and Cyclist Collision - At 8:05 p.m., police responded to a vehicle and cyclist collision in the area of Kearney Lake and Grosvenor Roads in Halifax. A 14-year-old cyclist struck the side of the van,smashing out the window, as the van was making a right turn onto Grosvenor Road. The youth wasn't wearing a helmet at the time and received a cut to the back of his head. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. No charges are expected.


ROBIE street & beckfoot drive November 10, 2010 10-172296 - Injury Motor Vehicle and Pedestrian Accident - At 2:50 p.m. police responded to an motor vehicle and pedestrian accident at the corner of Robie and Inglis Streets in Halifax. A woman was jogging across Inglis Street at Robie Street when she was struck by a vehicle turning onto Inglis Street. The victim was transported to the hospital with a serious leg injury. The 21-year-old female driver of the vehicle has been issued a Summary Offense ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

Tire Slashing - Overnight, twenty vehicles were damaged and tires were slashed in the area of Rose Way Court and Beckfoot Drive in Dartmouth. There were no witnesses to the events, owners of the vehicles noticed the damage during the day and called police.


1000 tower road October 12, 2010 10-155586 - Stolen Motor Vehicle -police responded to a call of a male sleeping in a vehicle in a parking lot in the 1000 block of Tower Road, Halifax. Further investigation, resulted in police recovering stolen property taken from other vehicles in the south end of Halifax. A 17-year-old male was arrested and faces charges for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a weapon and several property related charges and will attend court in the morning.


10-155834 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 9:00 p.m., police responded to corner of Lacewood Drive and Dunbrack Street, Halifax. A Ford truck went through a red light going south on Dunbrack Street and struck a Honda Civic going west on Lacewood Drive. The driver of the truck was not injured and issued a ticket for going through a red light. The male driver of the Honda Civic was taken to QE2 Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The traffic lights were knocked down as a resulted of the accident, causing the intersection to be shut down for approximately two and half hours.

joseph howe drive & POWER Highway February 4, 2010 10-17534 -Impaired Driver -Approximately 2:00 a.m., an SUV travelling northbound on Joseph Howe Drive in Halifax, struck a power pole shearing it completely off. The male driver was arrested for impaired driving and refusing the Breathalyzer. He was treated by ambulance at the scene for a minor facial injury.

Many residences in the West End of Halifax were without power. Highway 102 and Mumford Road were closed until 7:00 a.m. to remove the vehicle and power lines. Mumford Road was closed from Romans Avenue to Joseph Howe Drive due to power lines being down.

Motorists are advised that lights at several intersections are not operational. Police were present at major intersections to direct traffic. Motorist are reminded to treat those intersections as a four-way stop.

Nova Scotia Power crews advised police it may be several hours before power is restored. The public should contact Nova Scotia Power for further updates on power restoration.


MORRIS street & south park street February 2, 2010 10-16945 - Traffic Accident - At 10:58 p.m., police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the corner of South Park Street and Morris Street in Halifax. One vehicle driving south on South Park Street failed to stop at a red light and struck another vehicle driving west on Morris Street. No one was injured in the accident. One driver was issued a Summary Offence ticket for failing to stop at a red light.





QUEEN street & spring garden road January 20, 2010 10-9512 - Injury Accident - At 9:13 a.m., an on-duty Halifax Regional Police officer was struck by a truck while crossing the intersection of Spring Garden Road and Queen Street in Halifax. The officer was treated and released from the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle was issued a Summary Offence Ticket for a crosswalk violation.


1598 barrington street December 26, 2009 09-188946 - Motor Vehicle Accident - At 3:30 p.m., a vehicle lost control and struck the Venus Envy store located at 1598 Barrington Street in Halifax, causing moderate damage to the building. A 60-year-old woman was issued a Summary Offence ticket for failing to stop at a red light. She was not injured in the accident.


1721 brunswick street December 22, 2009 09 -172010 - Injury Accident - At 3:08 a.m., a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at 1721 Brunswick Street and taken to the QE2 Hospital, with non life threatening injuries. The driver was given the breath demand.


1278 south park street December 20, 2009 187466 --A 19 year old female pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck in the intersection of Upper Water and Barrington Street at 1:05pm. She was taken to the QE11 with non life threatening injuries. The 35 year old male driver of the truck was not injured. The accident remains under investigation.

Robbery 09-187618 -- At about 5:45 pm the victim was walking on Dublin Street in Halifax when he was approached by two suspects. The suspects demand his Ipod and cash and threatened to harm him if he called anyone. The victim was not injured and the suspects left the area. The suspects were described as a black male 16-20 years old, approx. height 5'11, thin build, black puffy winter jacket(parka style), black toque and clean shaven. Second suspect was a black male , 18-25 years old, approx. height 6'0, medium to heavy build, had a large black winter jacket on as well with a black toque. File is under investigation.

Robbery 09-187697>/b>--At about 10:15 pm the victim was working in the parking booth 1278 South Park Street. A lone male knocked on the door and forced his way inside. He threatened that he had a knife, and demanded the victim open the till. The suspect took all the bills and left the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. Suspect was described as a white male,6 feet tall, 190-200 lbs, wearing all dark Clothing except white sneakers.

1721 brunswick street November 21, 2009 09-172010 - Injury Accident - At 3:08 a.m., a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the area of 1721 Brunswick Street, Halifax. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. The driver will appear in court at a later date to face charges of impaired driving.


sackville street & BARRINGTON Street November 13, 2009 09-168646 - Mischief - At 6:39 p.m., police responded to the south end of Barrington Street, where the driver of a truck was struck with a paint ball. Shortly thereafter, a business on Sackville Street was struck with two paint balls. There were several other reports of buildings being struck with paint balls. Witnesses described a grey Mazda with several occupants as being responsible. At approximately 7:30 p.m. the vehicle was located on the south end of Barrington Street and three males were taken into custody. They will face several charges of public mischief. All were released to appear in court on a later date.




MCLEAN street & spring garden road October 15, 2009 09-152972 - Hit and Run - At 3:05 a.m. two beat officers attempted stop a Ford Focus on Prince Street near Barrington Street. The driver sped past them and struck one of the officers with the mirror of his vehicle. Patrol units in the area located the vehicle travelling on Spring Garden Road and pursued the vehicle in the south end of Halifax for a short period of time until the officers abandoned the chase over concerns for public safety. The vehicle was located a short time later on Blue Willow Court near McLean Street. The vehicle was unoccupied. The area was cordoned off by several police units and a 25-year-old male suspect was arrested as he tried to leave the area. The suspect will appear in court tomorrow to face a variety of charges including dangerous driving, hit and run, flight from police, breach of court orders and impaired driving. The police officer was not injured in this incident.


October 4, 2009 147020-Injury Accident-Lacewood Drive. At 7:26 PM a vehicle struck a pedestrian, knocking the pedestrian to the ground. The pedestrian was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.

SOUTH PARK street & spring garden road September 23, 2009 09-142105 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 3:30 p.m., an 18-year-old female was crossing South Park Street at Spring Garden Road when she was struck by a vehicle. The female was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Officers will be investigating to determine if charges are applicable.


morris street & HOLLIS Street July 23, 2009 09-106759 - Stolen Motor Vehicle - At 2:45 p.m. an officer attempted to stop a grey four-door vehicle on Morris Street near Barrington Street, Halifax. The vehicle turned left onto Hollis Street and proceeded the wrong way up Hollis Street at a high rate of speed. The officer activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to warn the public of the vehicle but did not attempt to pursue it. The vehicle struck several parked cars and as a result of witness 911 calls, the vehicle was located unoccupied next to a parking garage in the 2000 block of Brunswick Street. The car was found to be stolen and as a result was taken into police custody. The investigation into this matter is still on-going.


hollis & salter street July 13, 2009 09-101575 Collision - At 10:30 a.m. today, the Regional Police responded to a Vehicle and Pedestrian collision at the corner of Hollis and Salter Street. A women in her 60's was struck in the crosswalk and received a broken wrist and other undetermined injuries. She was taken to the QEII Hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.




barrington & duke streets June 19, 2009 09-88467 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 11:13 p.m. a man was struck by a private chartered bus after running out into the street near the intersection of Barrington and Duke Streets, Halifax. The man was dragged a few feet. He was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.


morris & queen streets May 12, 2009 09-66571 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 1 p.m. police responded to an injury accident at the intersection of Morris and Queen Streets, Halifax. Two woman crossing the intersection were struck by a car turning east onto Morris Street from Queen Street. One woman was treated and released at the scene and the second was transported to hospital as a precaution. No charges are anticipated in this matter.


SUMMER street & spring garden road May 3, 2009 09-62966 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 9:00 a.m. police responded to an injury accident involving a van and pedestrian at the intersection of Spring Garden Road and Summer Street. The 35-year-old female pedesterian walked out in front of the van, which was making a right turn, and was struck, injuring her leg. The driver of the van drove her to hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. There are no charges as a result of the accident.


1181 hollis street January 4, 2009 09-2179 - Motor Vehicle Accident - At 6:35 p.m. police responded to a complaint of a car that had driven into a crowd of people on the sidewalk near a bus stop in front of 1181 Hollis Street. Upon arrival it was learned that the driver of the vehicle attempted to stop for a pedestrian in the road but inadvertently pressed the accelerator instead of the brake. This caused the car to lunge forward, striking another car, scaffolding and three pedestrians. EHS attended to all victims and they declined transport to the hospital. Two women, one 74-years-old and the other 22-years-old, and a 41-year-old man were struck. No charges are pending.


sackville streets November 16, 2008 08-170091 - Motor Vehicle Accident and Impaired Driving - At 4:07 a.m. a vehicle drove into a parked car near Market and Sackville Streets in Halifax. The driver of the vehicle tried to run from the scene on foot but was arrested by police. There were no injuries and minor damage to both vehicles. The male suspect, who was in his early twenties, was highly impaired and refused to comply with a Breathalyzer demand. He will appear in court at a later date charged with impaired driving and refusing a Breathalyzer demand.


queen streets & SOUTH Street November 14, 2008 08-169395 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 9:23 p.m. police attended the intersection of South and Queen Streets in relation to a motor vehicle and pedestrian accident. A 22-year-old woman was crossing the street on the "walk" signal when she was struck by a 64-year-old male driver, who was turning right onto South Street. The driver was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in crosswalk. The victim was transported to the hospital to be assessed.


brunswick & sackville streets November 11, 2008 08-167910 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 8:48 a.m. police responded to the intersection of Brunswick and Sackville streets, Halifax, in relation to a car-bicycle collision. A 17-year-old female cyclist failed to stop for a red light and collided with the vehicle. She was transported to the hospital with a broken clavicle. The driver of the vehicle received minor injuries from the broken driver's window. The cyclist was issued a summary offence ticket for failing to obey a traffic signal.


BARRINGTON street & morris street September 7, 2008 08-132935 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At approximately 1:36 p.m. a Ford Mustang was traveling east on Morris Street and failed to stop at the red light at Barrington Street. The Mustang struck a Concord which was traveling north on Barrington Street. Both vehicles were extensively damaged. A 60-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman from the Concord and a 36-year-old woman from the Mustang were transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries. The 35-year-old male driver of the Mustang was issued a summary offence ticket for a red light violation.


sackville & brunswick streets July 2, 2008 08-96268 - Injury Motor Vehicle and Pedestrian Accident - At 11:30 p.m. a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while crossing through the crosswalk at the intersection of Sackville and Brunswick Streets, Halifax. The woman received non-life threatening injuries. The driver was issued two violation tickets for driving while speaking on a cell phone and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.


m May 20, 2008 72092 - Motor Vehicle Accident - At approx. 7a.m. the driver of a car failed to yield the right-of-way to a motorcyclist who was already in the Armdale Traffic Circle and struck same. The 22-year-old driver of the motorcycle suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. The 29-year-old driver of the automobile was issued a summary offence ticket for failing to yield the right-of-way.

dresden & morris street March 26, 2008 08-44087 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 11:30 p.m. police responded to the intersection of Morris Street and Dresden Row, Halifax, in relation to a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival police found that the driver of a motor cycle had lost control and ran into the rear of a unoccupied parked vehicle. The driver, a 22-year-old male, was transported to the hospital with a broken leg.


morris & south park street February 27, 2008 08-28917 - Motor Vehicle and Pedestrian Accident - At 6:45 a.m., police responded to an accident involving a truck and pedestrian at the intersection of Morris and South Park Street, Halifax. The south bound truck was attempting to make a left hand turn off of South Park on to Morris. The driver yielded for one pedestrian crossing through the crosswalk, then proceeded to make the turn. The driver did not see a second pedestrian in the crosswalk and struck a 23-year-old female. This was partly due to the heavy rain. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. The 48-year-old male driver was issued a Summary Offence Ticket for 'Failing to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Marked Crosswalk.'


rainie drive & brunswick street February 27, 2008 08-28930 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 7:30 a.m. a two vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Rainie Drive and Brunswick Street, Halifax. There was heavy rain at the time. Both cars were travelling on Rainie Drive, attempting to turn south on Brunswick Street. One car struck the rear of the car in front of it. A 33-year-old female passenger of the impacted vehicle was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. A Summary Offence ticket was issued to the 40-year-old male driver of the second car for 'Failing to have a Valid Insurance Card.'


tower terrace February 16, 2008 08-23966 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 11:53 a.m., a man was struck by a vehicle while crossing Tower Terrace in Halifax. The vehicle was in the process of backing up when it hit the victim. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was issued a Summary Offence ticket for 'Unsafe Backing.'


5656 spring garden road January 21, 2008 08-10254 - Robbery - At 11:45 p.m., a man entered the Scotiabank at 5656 Spring Garden Road and produced a note demanding cash. The suspect was given cash and fled south on Brenton Street on foot, getting into a waiting vehicle described as a large black car.. No one was injured during the incident. The suspect did not cover his face and is described as a Caucasian male, 24-25-years-old, 6'1 tall, 200lbs, medium build, with a pale complexion and a clean shaven face. He was wearing a black toque, black jeans, and a black coat with a rockawear Jayzee's brand R logo on left or right chest® with a swirl on the right side of the R) and fur on the collar and black leather gloves. The stolen cash contained a dye pack that detonate, staining the money with dye. Any business receiving cash contaminated with red dye is requested to contact the Halifax Regional Police at 490-5020.


GO 08-10313 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 1:18 p.m., a man was travelling down Portland Street near Portland Estates when his vehicle's brakes failed to operate. The vehicle veered into the lane of oncoming traffic causing a head on collision. A passenger in the vehicle that caused the accident was transported to hospital with undetermined, non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle was found to have a rejected inspection sticker and the matter is being investigated with regard to possible charges.


BARRINGTON street & morris street January 11, 2008 08-5189 - Motor Vehicle Collision - At 10:45 a.m. Patrol Units responded to a two car collision involving a transport truck and a car at Morris and Barrington Streets. The transport truck was traveling East on Morris Street and allegedly went through a red light striking the side of a Cadillac traveling North on Barrington Street. The 73-year-old driver of the Cadillac was taken to hospital with a non life threatening leg injury. The 36-year-old driver of the transport truck was issued a Summary Offence ticket for failing to stop at a red light.

university August 5, 2007 07-116196 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - A single vehicle accident occurred near Mount St. Vincent University in Halifax. The 52-year-old male driver appears to have suffered a medical issue which caused him to drive straight across the road, over the curb and sidewalk, down an embankment coming to rest against a clump of trees. The driver suffered minor injuries.

SOUTH PARK street & spring garden road July 26, 2007 07-110456 - Hit and Run Accident - At approximatley 2:07 a.m., a cyclist was struck by a vehicle while making a left turn at the intersection of South Park Street and Spring Garden Road. The vehicle did not stop and left the area. The cyclist received minor injuries and did not seek medical treatment. The only description of the vehicle was a Red Dodge Magnum with a Nova Scotia License plate.


south streets June 3, 2007 07-68869 Update - HRP News release issued May 18th where a police officer on a motorcycle had been involved in a collision at South Park and South Streets and we were requesting the public's assistance in locating the driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision, who had left the scene, stating he had a grave family emergency to attend to.

The Dodge Caravan allegedly involved was located in the lot at a Halifax apartment building last week by members of the Integrated Traffic Unit, and its alleged driver located at the same address. The 52-year-old man was subsequently issued tickets for Driving While Suspended, Driving Without Insurance, Operating a Vehicle with Expired Registration, and Failing to Yield the Right of Way (re the collision).

BRUNSWICK street & spring garden road May 20, 2007 07-71691/71693/71726 Hit and Run - at 11:15 p.m. a male driving a pick-up truck struck a vehicle from behind on Brunswick Street in Halifax. The suspect left the scene and proceeded toward Spring Garden Road where he ran the stop sign and struck a second vehicle at the intersection of Spring Garden Road at Brunswick Street. The suspect left this scene and lost control of his vehicle and smashed into the Toronto Dominion Bank on Spring Garden Road. The suspect tried to leave this third scene but his vehicle would not move. The suspect left the vehicle and started up Spring Garden Road where he was surrounded by a group of concerned citizens and held there for police.

The suspect was charged with impaired driving as well as leaving the scene of an accident. A female in the first accident received minor injuries, there were no further injuries.

March 23, 2007 07-40692 Motor Vehicle Crash A lone male occupant lost control of his vehicle while driving on Burnside Drive just north of Commodore Drive and swerved into the right hand side ditch. The vehicle then struck a culvert, resulting in the car landing on its roof. Fire personnel attended to extract the driver from the vehicle. He was then taken to hospital with what appear to be non-life- threatening injuries. The investigation into the cause of the accident is on-going.

ahern avenue March 7, 2007 07-33371 Injury Accident - A female cyclist travelling on Ahern Avenue in Halifax sustained non life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a truck at 11:20 p.m.






February 3, 2007 07-16452 Motor Vehicle Accident - A female driver was treated for non life-threatening injuries when her vehicle flipped on its roof on St. Margarets Bay Road.

1326 lower water street October 5, 2006 06-134315 Motor Vehicle Crash 1 a.m. A pickup truck smashed into the building at 1326 Lower Water Street (Halifax). A 21-year-old male was arrested at the scene by responding officers and will appear in court today to answer to a number of charges, including Impaired Driving and Taking a Motor Vehicle Without the Owners Consent.

grafton & blowers street July 14, 2006 06-88913 Disturbance and Assault 12:25 a.m. Blowers Street at Grafton, Halifax. A member , responding to a call of a disturbance observed what he believed to be a taxi driver strike an individual intentionally with his vehicle. A group of males then approached the taxi and one of them assaulted the driver. That male and the rest of the group fled as they observed the police vehicle pulling up. The individual who the taxi had struck was not injured. He was eventually located by the officer at the scene. There had been a dispute and physical confrontation between this person (43-years-old) and the taxi driver which precluded the taxi driver getting into his vehicle and striking the man with it. The taxi driver, a 45-year-old Halifax man, was arrested for Assault with a Weapon (his vehicle) and was later released, scheduled to appear , court at a later date to answer to the charge. He had suffered a facial injury as a result of the assault upon him after the incident, however he did not require medical attention. The suspect , relation to the assault on the driver was not located.

lower water street June 26, 2006 06-78890 Motor Vehicle Crash 4:05 a.m. "The Wave", Lower Water Street, Halifax. A vehicle travelling east on Sackville Street went across Lower Water Street and through barriers, coming to rest upon "The Wave" monument. The driver, described as an intoxicated white female , her early twenties with dark hair, wearing a sleeveless flowered shirt, fled the scene on foot before police arrived. The matter remains under investigation. "The Wave" was not damaged.

June 12, 2006 06-71686 Injury Motor Vehicle Collision A 2-vehicle collision occurred , the area of Kearney Lake and Bluewater Roads at approximately 4 p.m. One of the drivers foot was pinned under his vehicle after he was ejected from it. His injuries are non-life threatening and the accident is still under investigation.

June 11, 2006 06-71029 Motor Vehicle Crash At approximately 12:30 a.m. Regional Police, Fire and EHS responded to a single vehicle crash on the 102 Highway near the Hammonds Plains exit. A Nissan Van was travelling outbound when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to flip coming to rest , the ditch. Fortunately the driver was wearing his seatbelt and received only minor scrapes, whereas the vehicle sustained major damage. The conditions were foggy at the time of the accident. The 18-year-old male driver was , violation of the graduated licence provisions and was issued a ticket.

February 17, 2006 06-20115 Vehicle and Pedestrian Collision 9:30 p.m. A 35 year-old male was struck by a vehicle while crossing the Street at the intersection of Duke and Barrington. He suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was issued a ticket for making an illegal left turn.


south park street February 15, 2006 06-18655 Vehicle and Pedestrian Collision 4:15 p.m. A pedestrian who had exited his car on South Park Street had begun to cross the street when he was struck by a vehicle. He was taken to QEII for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No charges are anticipated at this time.

bell road & SACKVILLE Street December 29, 2005 114627-Motor Vehicle Collision-At 6:30 p.m. a male and female pedestrian were crossing Sackville Street near Bell Road when the female was struck by a vehicle and knocked to the ground. The 17-year-old girl was taken to the QE2 for treatment to what are considered to be non-life threatening injuries. Charges of failing to yield to a pedestrian within a crosswalk have not yet been laid but are anticipated based on the current evidence.


sackville street November 28, 2005 101722-Motor Vehicle Collision-At 3:45 a.m. a pick-up truck struck several parked vehicles along Sackville Street and then a male pedestrian. The male was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries and the matter is under investigation.
