gladstone & north streets September 6, 2010 10-134643 - Robbery - At 8:59 p.m., police responded to the corner of Gladstone and North Streets in Halifax. A male victim was walking in the area when he was approached by a group of 15-20 youths. A male in the group asked the man for a cigarette and then a number of the youth began to kick and punch the victim. The victim's cell phone was taken and the group fled on foot from the area. The victim suffered a cut to his ear and cheek and swelling to the side of his head. The suspects were described as black males and females in their early to late teens. One male was taken into custody. The matter remains under investigation.


west street & AGRICOLA Street September 6, 2010 10-134645 - Attempted Robbery and Assault with a Weapon - At 9:04 p.m., police responded to a report of an attempted robbery and assault with a weapon on Davison Street in Halifax. A man and woman walking in the area were approached by a group of youths and asked if they had a light for a cigarette. One male and two females from the group assaulted the man with a weapon, striking him in the face and causing a cut to his hand. The attackers went through the victim's pockets and then fled the area, running from West Street to the Agricola Street area. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. At this time, information received indicates that the perpetrators may be the same group involved in a robbery earlier in the evening (
3482 dutch village road September 5, 2010 10-134701 - Robbery - At 11:16 p.m., police responded to a report of a robbery at the Scotiabank at 3482 Dutch Village Road. A man reported that while he was inside at the bank machine two masked men entered, one armed with a knife, and demanded $500. The victim told the suspects that he did not have that kind of money and ran from the bank. The first suspect was described as a 17-year-old male, 6' tall, 140-150 lbs, a thin moustache, with a scarf covering his face and wearing a grey hoodie. The second suspect was described as a 17-year-old male, 5'8"-5'9", wearing a dark colored hoodie and baggy sweat pants. The matter remains under investigation.


1300 lemarchant street September 5, 2010 10-132913 - Robbery - At 2:27 a.m., police responded to the 1300 block of Lemarchant Street in Halifax. The female victim was returning home from downtown with a friend when they were confronted by two men. An argument ensued and one of the men threatened one of the women and took her purse. Both men fled the area on foot. The two suspects were described as white men in their 20's. One suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue basketball shorts. The second suspect was wearing jeans with a black hooded sweatshirt. The matter remains under investigation.


100 kennedy drive August 27, 2010 10-128483 - Weapons - At 4:20 p.m., police responded a report of shots fired in the 100 block of Kennedy Drive in Dartmouth. It appears that two males shot at one another. Both parties left the area prior to police arrival and were not located. The suspects were described as two black males, one wearing a white zippered hoodie. No further information is available at this time.


ELMWOOD avenue & wyse road August 26, 2010 10-127448 - Attempted Robbery - Approximately 1:15 a.m., a taxi carrying two passengers stopped in the area of Elmwood Avenue and Wyse Road,Dartmouth. A female exited the taxi and the male instructed the driver to drive a short distance away. When the driver stopped, the male produced a knife and demanded cash. The taxi driver refused and got out of his vehicle. The male suspect fled the scene and the K9 unit attended. The male suspect was not located. The suspect was described as a white man, 20-years-old, 5'7" tall, 150 lbs, wearing jeans and a light coloured zipped up hoodie. No one was injured during the incident. This matter remains under investigation.


August 26, 2010 10-127783 - Assault Peace Officer - At 4:15 p.m., police responded to the Central Nova Correctional Centre in relation to an assault on a Corrections Officer. The victim was taken to the Dartmouth General Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released. The suspect remained at the Correctional Centre. The matter remains under investigation with charges expect to be laid.


ELMWOOD avenue & wyse road August 25, 2010 10-127448-Attempted Robbery- At about 1:15 am a taxi carrying two passengers stopped in the area of Elmwood Avenue and Wyse Road in Dartmouth. The female exited the taxi and the male instructed the driver to drive a short distance away. When he stopped the male produced a knife and demanded cash. The taxi driver refused and got out of his vehicle. The male suspect fled the scene and a K9 team attended . The track was unsuccessful and the male was not located.
The suspect is described as a white male about 20 years old, 5'7" tall about 150 lbs wearing jeans and a light coloured zip up hoodie. The were no injuries and the male did not get anything from the taxi driver. The file is still under investigation.


gaston road August 24, 2010 10-126467 Suspicious Death As a result of their investigation HRP and RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit have determined that the Sudden Death of the male located in an apartment on Gaston Road in Dartmouth is not suspicious. Investigators have completed their investigation and turned the scene back over to the building representative. The male that was being interviewed by investigators has been released.



100 spring avenue August 23, 2010 10-125792 - Arson - At 3:06 a.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle on fire in the driveway of a residence in the 100 block of Spring Avenue in Dartmouth. The fire spread to the home and caused extensive damage to one side. The incident remains under investigation but arson is suspected.


6000 chebucto road August 22, 2010 10-125438 - Break and Enter - At approximately 12:30 p.m., police responded to a break and enter in-progress in the 6000 block of Chebucto Road, Halifax. The street was blocked and the residence was cleared for suspects. A suspect was apprehended a short distance away at a corner store. A taser and items from the break and enter including laptop computers and a cell phone were recovered. Two other suspects are being sought. Both are described as black males. A man is expected to face charges of break and enter, using a disguise in the commission of an offence, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and possession of property obtained by crime.


0-100 lahey road August 21, 2010 10-125040 - Robbery - At 4:30 p.m., police responded to a robbery call in the 0-100 block of Lahey Road in Dartmouth. A 21-year-old male victim was sitting in his apartment when a man came to his window and engaged him in conversation. The short conversation ended and the suspect left, only to return a short time later with another man. Both men entered the apartment through the window. The first suspect had a can of bear spray and the second suspect was carrying a knife. The suspect cut the victim's arm with the knife, causing very minor wounds. The suspects searched the victim's apartment, and took a safe and a lap top computer before leaving through the door. The victim did not require medical treatment. This does not appear to be a random act. The first suspect was described as a black man, 5'9" tall, 170-180 lbs, stocky build, with short hair and clean shaven, and wearing a ball cap with green on the front and black on back, a dark t-shirt and black pants. The second suspect was described as a white man, 6' tall, 150 lbs, with short brown
hair and a tattoo with old style English writing on the left side of his neck, and wearing a black bandana, a white t-shirt and dark blue-jeans.


fenwick & queen streets August 20, 2010 10-122942 - Theft From Motor Vehicle - The HRP and RCMP Integrated Criminal Operations Section, which analyzes crime statistics, has noted a trend in thefts from motor vehicles in central and west-end Halifax. These thefts include but are not limited to purses and wallets, kitbags, laptops, GPS devices and cameras. In many cases, the items have been left in plain view in the vehicle.

At 2:05 p.m., a downtown Community Response Officer on bike patrol observed a man selling a GPS unit to another man at the corner of Fenwick and Queen Streets in Halifax. The officer questioned the two men and determined the GPS unit to be stolen. The first man was arrested and a second GPS unit, along with several break and enter tools, were found in his possession. The man admitted to taking the GPS units from the Westin Hotel. A 46-year-old Halifax man was charged with theft and possession of break and enter tools. He will appear in court at a later date.


6028 lady hammond road August 20, 2010 10-123075 - Assistance to Other Agency - At 5:30 p.m., police assisted Halifax Regional Fire with a fire on a second story balcony at 6028 Lady Hammond Road in Halifax. The fire was extinguished quickly with minimal damage and no one was injured during the incident.


andover street August 20, 2010 10-124011 - Weapons Call - At 1:50 a.m., two people standing outside a residence on Andover Street in Dartmouth having a cigarette. A silver vehicle stopped and the passenger produced an automatic pellet gun and fired numerous shots at a vehicle parked in the driveway, damaging the driver's side rear window. No further information was obtained and the matter is still being investigated.


August 18, 2010 10-123161 - Robbery - At 7:50 p.m.,
three occupants of a vehicle parked in a lot near Jackson and Victoria Roads in Dartmouth were approached by two suspects on foot displaying knives. One of the suspects was observed to have a hand gun tucked in the waist of his pants. The suspects robbed one of the occupants of a small quantity of cash and slashed the tires of the vehicle before leaving the area on foot. The victims were not injured during the incident and were uncooperative with police in relation to providing statements. The first suspect was described as a white man, 19-20-year-old, with a freckled complexion and shaved red hair, and wearing a blue mesh jersey with red numbers and blue jeans. The second suspect was described as a white man, 19-20-year-old, with shaved dark hair, and wearing a light blue dress shirt with a white tank-top underneath and blue jeans. The matter remains under investigation.


rosedale drive & WYSE Road August 17, 2010 10-122567 - Robbery - At 9:40 p.m., a man working in the 200 block of Wyse Road in Dartmouth was robbed at gun point by three men. The victim was relieved of a quantity of cash but was not injured during the incident. The three suspects fled on foot towards Rosedale Drive. The gun was described as a black handgun. The first suspect was described as a black man, 18-23-years-old, long nose, 6' tall, wide shoulders, wearing a grey hoodie, jogging pants and black basketball sneakers. The second suspect was described as a white man, 18-23-years-old, 5'11" tall, lean build, bushy eyebrows, wearing a black hoodie and pants. The third suspect was described as a black man, 18-23-years-old, 5'5" tall with a stocky build. The matter remains under investigation.


August 15, 2010 10-120444 - Sexual Assault - At 6:15 p.m., police responded to sexual assault complaint. A 37-year-old man stated he was hitchhiking in Dartmouth and was picked up by a man in a red or green Toyota, either a Tercel or Corolla. The suspect pulled a handgun on him and took him to a wooded location in the south end of Halifax where the suspect sexually assaulted him. The suspect was described as an Arabic and Middle Eastern man, late 40's, 6' tall, 180-200 lbs., with black hair, a mustache and scruffy facial hair. The suspect removed a black crew-neck golfing style windbreaker and underneath he wore a long sleeved t-shirt with a grey body and black sleeves. The suspect was also wearing dark pants. The matter remains under investigation.


willet street August 15, 2010 10-120638 - Attempt Murder - At 3:33 p.m., police responded to a report of a man who had been assaulted inside his residence in the 200 block of Willet Street in Halifax. Upon arrival, officers located a 37-year-old man who had been severely beaten. The victim is in serious but stable condition in hospital. This incident is not believed to have been random. The matter remains under investigation by the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Identification Section.


oxford street & QUINPOOL Road August 15, 2010 10-120701 - Injury Motor Vehicle Accident - At 5:52 p.m., a west bound motorcycle struck a car turning right from Oxford Street onto Quinpool Road and then subsequently struck another car travelling eastbound on Quinpool Road. The motorcyclist was transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries to his leg. This matter is still under investigation and charges under the Motor Vehicle Act are expected.


old sambro road August 15, 2010 10-121399 - Abduction - At 10:48 p.m., police responded to a residence in the 2000 block of the Old Sambro Road in relation to a possible abduction call. A 29-year-old female victim knocked on the door of the residence asking for assistance. The homeowner contacted police. The victim had been taken by the suspect to a secluded location and held her against her will. The victim managed to get free and make her way to the residence. A suspect is in custody and members of the Integrated Major Crime Unit are currently investigating the complaint. The investigation is still in the early stages and more information will be forthcoming as it becomes available.


rufus avenue August 14, 2010 10-120860 - Shooting - At 11:26 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on Rufus Avenue in Halifax. Upon arrival, officers learned that a 45-year-old man and three other adults were inside an apartment when three males forced entry demanding cash. Two of the suspects were armed with firearms and a third with a bat. Several shots were fired by the suspects and the 45-year-old man was shot in the shoulder. The suspects fled the building and were believed to have gotten into a waiting vehicle on Rufus Avenue. The first suspect was described as a white male, 6' tall, with a red scarf around his face, and wearing a black hoodie and black jeans. The second suspect was described as white male with red hair, and wearing dark clothes including a hoodie. The third suspect was described as a white male. The victim was transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries. This incident is not believed to be random. The matter remains under investigation by the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Identification Section.


6324 quinpool road August 14, 2010 10-119793 - Impaired Driving - At 4:49 p.m., an officer approached a vehicle at the McDonalds at 6324 Quinpool Road in Halifax. The driver put the vehicle in drive and hit the unattended police vehicle. The driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving and operating stolen vehicle.


purcells cove road August 14, 2010 10-120012 - Motor Vehicle Accident - At 3:05 p.m., a two vehicle accident between a car and a bus occurred at near Purcell's Cove Road and Frog Pond. An 83-year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim will not be released pending next of kin notification. Members of the Accident Investigation Unit and Forensic Identification Team are on presently on scene investigating the accident.


2300 robie street August 14, 2010 10-120184 - Sexual Assault - At 8:45 p.m., a woman pushing her baby in a stroller in the 2300 block of Robie Street in Halifax was approached by a man. The suspect grabbed the victim by the waist and buttocks and commented on how good she looked. The suspect was described as a white male, mid 30's, with "buzzed" dark hair, scruffy facial hair, long face with a long nose, droopy eyes, and wearing a blue button up shirt with sleeves rolled up, tan shorts and carrying a brown shoulder bag. The matter remains under investigation.


BEDFORD highway & moirs mill road August 13, 2010 10-120251 - Drug Trafficking - At 9:40 p.m., West Division Community Response Officers conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in the area of the Bedford Highway and Moirs Mill Road. Further investigation by officers resulted in marijuana, scales, cell phones, drug paraphernalia and cash being seized from the vehicle. Three youth and one adult have been charged with trafficking and will appear in court at a later date.


August 11, 2010 10-118825 - Assault - At approximately 6:30 p.m., police received a report regarding an assault on an inmate of the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility. The male victim alleges he was assaulted by another prisoner while in the back of a sherrif's van. The investigation is in its preliminary stages and several more witnesses need to be interviewed.


August 10, 2010 10-117225 - Bomb Threat - At 8:30 a.m., police responded to Eastern College on Dresden Row for a complainant of a bomb threat. Staff at Eastern College received a call
that an explosive was in the building. The building was evacuated and searched with negative results. A short time later, a 20-year-old female was arrested without incident and charged with mischief and misleading police. She will appear in court on a later date.



joseph howe drive & BAYERS Road August 9, 2010 10-116667 - Motor Vehicle Accident - At 10:21 a.m., police responded to a report of a transport truck which overturned on Joseph Howe Drive off Highway 102, Halifax. Upon arrival, it was learned the truck flipped onto its side and struck a car. The driver of the car did not receive any injuries. The driver of the truck was assessed by paramedics and taken to the QE2 Hospital, where he was treated and released with minor injuries. Joseph Howe Drive was closed between Mumford Road and Bayers Road for several hours. The matter remains under investigation.


SCOTCH PINE crescent & farnham gate road August 9, 2010 10-117551 - Car Pedestrian Accident -At 7:29 p.m. A 15-year-old female was struck by a car while walking in a crosswalk at the intersection of Farnham Gate Road and Scotch Pine Crescent in Halifax. She was taken to the IWK Hospital where she was treated for non life threatening injuries. The 45-year-old female driver was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
